I stopped by this café for breakfast and ordered eggs with toast, accompanied by bacon. The poached eggs were delightful complementing the well-toasted, crisp bread. The bacon, while good could have been cooked to a nice crispness. Service was decent but also could have been better. Latte was wonderful. This is a beautiful scenic spot for breakfast.

Nice atmosphere in this cafe beside the Treaty Grounds. Seating inside or enjoy the deck beside the pond nice on warm afternoons to catch the breeze of Hobson Beach. Also seating on the lawn. General selection of food muffins, scones and cakes. A menu also available recommend the hamburgers. Great coffee. Service can be mixed as they can get busy. Parking available out front or car park by the Treaty Grounds.

15/8/23 Our whanau group of 14 had breakfast here for my daughter's 16th birthday. Prior to our arrival, a table for 14 people was set up so we could all sit together and they took our orders via email so our kai came shortly after we arrived and at the same time so we all ate together. Food was very delicious and well presented!
Service was impeccable! Tino pai to mahi Reina & Reitu. Special mihi to Reitu for organizing a birthday cupcake for my daughter and taking photos of our group.

Honestly, we were quite surprised by the high quality of the dishes - we had poached eggs with mushrooms, and loved it! Great coffee, too.

As a local who does visit often to your lovely venue I was so disappointed this morning. I took a visitor for coffee and we chose cheese scones. Coffee was great...cheese scones were doughy, tough and where was the cheese ? Other friends with us waited forever for their cheese scone to arrive. We shared one of ours with them but had no desire to eat the one that did arrive just as we left. Sadly my visitor is reluctant to return 😢

Lovely spot for some brunch with very friendly staff. Food was amazing, the waffles were the best I've had at any cafe in NZ! Although it was not very busy the food did take some time due to staffing shortages but we were more than happy to wait. Keep up the good work guys!
We arrived and ordered for four for breakfast - eggs, full breakfast, muesli and corn fritters.
The coffee came out quickly (though they had no cream for the long black) and it was good.
The food was another story. The muesli came out with no milk, hardly any yoghurt and no spoon (knife and Fork?). The corn fritters and big breakfast arrived so late that two of our four guests had finished their meals, when it finally arrived, the corn fritters were raw and doughy inside and being pregnant, I returned them to the kitchen to be cooked Properly as they would have raw
Egg inside.
To my surprise, the chef did not cook them properly but sent them back out saying “that’s how they’re made”. After refusing to microwave them for me, we asked for a refund (which we received) and left.
Such a shame that a lovely location with a deep history is spoiled by poor hospitality operators with no love for their craft or pride in their business.

Served meals to 3 other groups, despite them ordering after us, so we waited 45 mins for food. An apology would’ve been appreciated. Staff appeared stressed so we didn’t make a fuss. Tasty food but service poor this time.
