A Japanese food gem in the city center. The tranquil vibe welcomes you in, the servers bring complimentary hot tea and friendly smiles and the food is flavorful and delicious. We went for dinner and was seated without a wait. Saeed was super kind and helpful. We started with the days' special of yellowtail- so fresh, tender and beautiful presentation. Sushi: Rainbow roll- beautiful and tasty but a bit mayo forward for my taste. Reloaded- great flavors and textures. Rock shrimp roll- creative with good flavors and textures. Too large to eat in one bite for me though. Throne roll- great crunch with mild flavor. Dumplings- fried prawn dumplings were the table favorite. Steamed lamb was delicious too. Did not expect to find a great Japanese place here in Cape Town. Glad we did. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the food and service are incredible. They’re usually quiet around lunchtime during the week so it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a lunch special and a bottle of Japanese beer, sake or coffee. They have free wifi and nice window seats looking onto Shortmarket Street, making it a great place to work. Great food. Calm and elegant decor. A genuinely happy and amazing place. Great quality fish. Highly recommended. A welcome wholesome break from heavy bbq or pub style dishes Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person R 250–300 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Before I proceed, THEY HAVE A 20% OFF ALL SUSHI THIS BLACK FRIDAY 24.11.23. This is not a sponsored post. :) This restaurant deserves so much more foot traffic. It looks like an authentic Japanese restaurant to start with and many might have the idea that they are exhorbitantly priced. On the contrary, the quality of the food be it taste or presentation, supersedes the prices. The service is attentive and the we sat by the window watching the world goes by with the equally fairly priced wines. After 2 starters of Agadeshi tofu (I loved it so much everything was slurped up.) Hubby had tamago sushi. Mains were more sushi which are 10% off, part of their regular promos. I had a grilled Saba mackerel. We finished off with the black sesame ice cream, cappuccino and Japanese whisky. We rolled out of the restaurant and fell into a blissful food coma thereafter. The food was delicious, the wine list was good (has variety) and the service was very attentive. The restaurant is quite dark in the evening and we would have liked to see what we were eating. The restaurant needs some upkeep as it seems a little run down in places. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Best Japanese restaurant in Cape Town. Flavourful food. With enough variety for those with adventurous palates. The Robata (BBQ) was robust in flavor: Beef tongue was delicious, soft and chewy; The crunchy chicken skin would pair beautifully with a beer to cut through the richness (next time!), while the salmon tongue was a wonderful fishy punch. (Sake pairing would work - definitely next time! ) The beef ramen is hands down best in Cape town. Yes, better than: Ramenhead, Downtown Ramen and Three monkeys. A beautiful supper with great food and excellent service. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person R 350–400 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Black Sesame Ice Cream

Very happy to find this gem! Ordered a bento box - the sushi was fresh and pricing was very reasonable. Service was also very attentive. Will be back! (Don't be fooled by the size of the serving, my husband was full from the seemingly small portion.) We had 2 cocktails, a bottle of wine and 2 x bento boxes.
