They have gotten everything right! Including each table, having not even menu, but a book. I could not be happier than eating, amazing food and drinking wonderful wine amongst books. The staff and owner made me feel right at home and very comfortable. While I am an English speaker, they were very kind and generous that he need practice. They're English impeccable. The environment is special since it is different from all the regular restaurants. It's basically a library and a restaurant as you can see in the pictures. The staff is very professional, you definitely get a more upper quality treatment. Both of the steaks were incredible. Cooked to basically perfection. The Theatro Steak, the one with the cheese on top, has an amazing sauce. The location is not bad. Parking might be a bit hard tho. The only downside were the ossobucco starters that had way too much meat packed inside. So it was just a big ball of meat hard to eat. Overall it is a worth experience for the price. Theatro was an absolutely lovely restaurant and I would so happily go back. The setting is what really makes it magical - modern, light and airy, feels like being in a library. The food is also amazing and we had some of the nicest fried shrimp we’ve ever had!

Theatro has a very high opinion rating and that prompted me to see for myself if it was warranted. This evening I went to Theatro and I can honestly same this place is very good and worth their high marks. The service was fast and friendly. Our server spoke English fluently however there was an English menu. I ordered the brie and fig reduction. There could have been a bit more fig sauce. The 4 large brie balls was quite filling. My main consisted of Sea Bass in a risotto with fresh asparagus. A bit too much salt for my taste however very well prepared. Bread was delicious and cooked on the premises. The Olive oil was fresh and light tasting. In conclusion, Theatro does stand up to the high rating. If I was back in this town I'd go to Theatro once again. Beautiful restaurant with a nice atmosphere in an old theatre. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday evening without a reservation, so better book in advance. The food was absolutely amazing and we had a delicious Portuguese white wine with it. This restaurant offers a beautiful setting, service and exceptional plates. Surrounded by books and a rocking outside patio. We started with the deep fried brie with fig jam and burrata, parma ham and fig jam. Mains included cod and octopus. Delightful server named Ruben. Definitely a 10!

Great dining off the main boulevard. The quality of the food and wines were top-notch, the setting this ll great due to the bookshelves all around. The service was amazing as well, we were never rushed and received great explanations about the food and wines. For starters we had the gamba taco's and the Alheira (traditional game or poultry sausage) croquettes. They both tasted great and the Alheira croquettes are a great dish which showed a new way to serve a traditional dish. I found the taco a bit stale, but the combination with the gamba's a and sauce made a good starter as well. My wife did not agree on the taco's and probably could have had several more. For the main course we chose for the veil and octopus, both popular dishes as mentioned by the team. Both dishes well executed as well. The veil was grilled well and side salad was worth eating, which was a first during our stay in Portugal. The octopus dish was balanced nicely with the spinach and adding a bit of oil and vinegar, it elevated the flavors greatly. All in all we had an amazing evening due to the food, drinks and definitely the service. If you have the chance, do eat here!

Modern Portuguese food. Good quality and well cooked. Inside environment is nice and memorable "you eat into a library " 👌
Absolutely perfect!!!! From the moment I walked in to the very last minute Joao de Melo ( our server) was amazing!!!!! His recommendations and attentive service is hard to find... he is truly gifted .... the Food is heavenly and the atmosphere ( music, setting etc) is on point .... an experience you must try !!!!
I went to this restaurant while passing by through the city of Povoa de Varzim, after having selected it from the top 3 trip advisor restaurants in the area, and I must say this was quite a surprise. The space reminds me of a library, the decoration is very simple yet quite beautiful and cozy. The staff were incredibly nice from beginning to end, always with a genuine smile on their faces and making excellent menu suggestions. As main dishes we ordered the duck and the pork, as desserts we asked for the chocolate mousse and creme brulee. Everything was top notch quality, exquisite flavours in every bite. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys eating.
