One less star for atmosphere for lack of seating. Probably made that way to enjoy the view. We arrived there before they opened and people start arriving few minutes before they open. Staff are very lovely and fast! Coffee is not the best but the crayfish and blue cod is superb!!!! Thank you so much!

Dropped by this cool hideout for lunch while on our way to Dunedin. A lovely fish and chips shop tucked within moeraki village that is only open 3 days a week. We got the half crayfish and blue cod. Batter was nice and light, seafood was super fresh!

After two weeks of exploring New Zealand's culinary scene, I finally stumbled upon a gem of a restaurant that catered perfectly to my palate. I had the pleasure of trying two local specialties here: Blue Cod and Crayfish, each prepared to perfection.

Was supposed to surprise my wife with a visit at this very unique place for their Blue Cod and Chips and Crayfish as her birthday late lunch by the beachside on our New Zealand trip.
Unfortunately, upon our arrival, we discovered the place was closed with a sign putting up a change of operating hours and the days due to the shortage of manpower.
We were disappointed that we arrived at a bad time and we did not get a chance to taste their food.
Nevertheless, it was a lovely visit to this beautiful place.
They were very busy, we had crayfish, gurnard and chips all were beautifully cooked and reasonably priced, the council need more bins as the seagulls got into the Cray bodies

I could quite easily give a much higher rating! First time purchasing from the fish wife. 2 pieces of blue cod and half scoop chips was the perfect amount for 2. Melt in your mouth perfectly cooked fish and perfectly salted chips. We will be back!!

We did a day trip Drive from Christchurch to specifically try The Fishwife and it was worth the drive!
We arrived at 12pm and there were crowds of people down by the wharf where The Fishwife was. Fantastic setting! Our order was 3 Blue Cod, 1 grilled Crayfish, and 1 scoop of chips. This was the freshest, most delicious Blue Cod We have EVER tasted ... who knew it could be this good!? The chips were of a very generous portion and golden crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The Crayfish was perfect.
We noted most people had ordered Blue Cod and Crayfish. The Fishwife has an area overlooking the wharf where you can eat. They supply napkins and tomato sauce.
We will definitely come again.
