This is a review for the breakfast buffet for which I have been to twice, once on a Saturday and this time on a Thursday. Both have been wonderful experiences.
There is an extensive variety of food which was hard to capture over video especially with most of the foods covered. In general, they have a bread and cake corner, toppings and condiments, hot foods, waffle and egg station made fresh, hopper station on the weekends, fruit station, salad bar, cold meats and cheeses, cereal, yogurt and muesli bar, a juice corner, and local cuisine set up outside. You'll get served tea or coffee at the table.
The quality of food is great and some varieties change daily. The hot foods generally have baked beans, eggs, sausages, bacon, fried rice, sauteed vegetables, a meat dish (today's was BBQ wings), potatoes, grilled tomatoes or pineapples (surprisingly delicious!). The local cuisine usually has vegetables and meat (today's were beef and fish) curries, legumes, chillies/sambols and milk rice. Their standard salad bar has three types of lettuce, onions, shaved carrots, corn and 5+ dressings/condiments. Within the breads and pastry section, today there was an onion and cheese bread and a cherry loaf amongst others. The mini croissants are usually flaky and crisp. But their standard simple butter cake steals the show for me. The juice of the day was belly fruit, last time was wood apple. Overall very thoughtful and delicious spread by experienced Chef Sujith.
The service is 5 star on the weekends, 4 star on weekdays. Weekday minor annoyances included plates and food being cleared too fast, being asked multiple times if I wanted tea or coffee when I didn't, having a line backed up at the egg station. But none of these took away from the food experience.
Two noteworthy finishing touches were the breathtaking view and the smart toilet. After the heavy meal, the couches just outside the restaurant allow for an opportunity to take in the view. Complementary drinks, teas and juices, get served occasionally too. Then have your privates washed and dried when you relieve yourself in the nearby smart toilet.
Breakfast is daily from 7.30-10am (but call ahead to check on weekdays off peak season). If you are not a hotel guest, the price is 3500 SLR, but with a steep service charge and tax, it adds up to just under 4500 SLR. The lunch buffet is 5500 SLR exclusive of service and tax.

Taste restaurant, nestled within Le Grand Galle, offers an all-encompassing dining experience that marries aesthetics with flavor in a manner that's truly captivating. The decor, radiating elegance, sets the stage for a culinary journey that's as visually pleasing as it is delicious.
Seating options both inside the restaurant and outside, facing the ocean and Galle Fort, create an ambiance that's nothing short of picturesque. It's an invitation to savor the moment while savoring your meal.
Speaking of the meal, the taste of the food is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality. The extensive buffet menu spans a delightful array of options – from continental to Sri Lankan fare, and an enticing variety of desserts. A noteworthy touch is the offering of freshly chopped fruits, a small detail that speaks volumes about their dedication to freshness.
Behind this exceptional experience are the culinary orchestrators, Chef Sujith and Chef Sagara. Their mastery extends beyond the kitchen as they ensure that guests are treated to a truly delightful experience. Notably, they go beyond the confines of the menu to ensure that everyone's dietary preferences are met, displaying a level of care and hospitality that's commendable.
Taste restaurant at Le Grand Galle is more than a dining destination; it's a symphony of flavors and aesthetics that harmonize into an unforgettable experience. With a culinary team that takes delight in going the extra mile, this restaurant stands as a testament to the art of creating memories through food.

Taste is All Day Dining restaurant of Le Grand Galle. It's breakfast buffet is one of the best buffet in the region. Freshly cut fruits and juice with wide varieties of Asian and International food items will make you well satisfied. Service staff will provide you the best hospitality with extra care.
I have visited this restaurant on four occasions and each time it was for the quality of the food. Being a resident of the Galle district, I highly recommend this establishment for dining with friends, family, or guests. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly delightful and it caters well to locals. However, it is worth noting that some of their mouth-watering dishes are served at the door in front of the garden, which may be easily missed.
