Stopped at Tarras Country Cafe and loved it. It’s a cozy and beautifully decorated place with friendly staff. The all-day breakfast was delicious, and both the coffee and hot chocolate were great. Perfect for a pit stop, with the convenience of public toilets and fuel pumps right next door. Highly recommend for a quick, satisfying break! Loved loved loved this place. Best long black I’ve had in NZ. The GF orange cake was so good. Cheese scone was delicious. Awesome spot to sit for a while and watch the world go by. Traditional country style coffee shop serving hot fast food too. Nice location for a stop on the long drives. The only negative- has no toilet and they are relying on public toilets which are very close but very dirty too. Price per person $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Wide selection of food items that looked delicious. The decor and vibe inside the cafe was cute and homey. I wish we could have eaten lunch here but we were in a rush. We did order a cappuccino and chocolate frappe, along with a slice of their carrot cake. The coffee was fantastic, the frappe was good and the carrot cake was out of this world. Lovely little hideaway, suitable for a quick lunch or stay longer to relax. Yummy food. Some meals are smaller but that just leaves room for the homemade treats. Was going to have lunch at Cromwell but this worked really well. Also it has kids activities and df/gf options. Shops next door are good souvenir shops too but are a bit pricey. We loved this place! We ordered the burger, fries, and Kumara Rosti (sweet potato patty with a avocado, salsa, and beans. Both dishes were really flavorful, served beautifully, and memorable! A small cosy cafe connected to the Merino wool shop. The vibes were amazing and the staff were super nice and friendly. We only bought a single cup of coffee for the road so can't really elaborate on the food. Service Take out Price per person $1–10 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We’ve passed this cafe many times because there was no place to park our motorhome for the stop. But this time there was enough room, and we’re so glad. Even though the cafe was buzzing and near full the service was quick and cheerful, the coffee great and the slices we ordered delicious. Easy to see why do popular.
