Great food! Ordered the Tuna and fries and the calamari and fries. Both were outstanding. A large assortment of sauces, the tarter sauce was also delicious. Enjoyed eating outside in the warm sun. I was looking for a Crab Shack that wasn't all fancy restaurant and this exactly fit the bill. They have all kinds of fresh fish. There was a line to get in but that was only because people seem to really love the place. I had the clam strips and chips and my friend had the captain's platter which had a variety of fish and shellfish. Halibut shrimp clams scallops Etc. I would definitely go back again and I would recommend it if all you're looking for is fish and not a fancy restaurant. Small on the inside but a nice assortment of fresh seafood to choose from. I had the halibut fish and chips which were lightly battered, cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. This place has many seafood options. Because of my food allergies to gluten, egg and dairy, they were able to give me poached scallops and prawns but with no seasoning :( Cocktail sauce had too much horseradish, so I couldn't eat it. Ordered Captains Platter, bowl of clam chowder, oyster shooters. Captain platter was the best! All deep fried oyster, scallops, prawns, halibut, and fries…yummyful! The oyster shooters were yummyful as well! The disappointing is the clam chowder. It was thick and lotsa potatoes… do not order their clam chowder! Plentiful of parking space. Got to love it. Fresh fish place off the side of the road with outdoor picnic table seating. As advertised, The Halibut fish and chips did not disappoint. The chips were average but the Halibut was PERFECT. Absolutely perfect. So light and fresh. Good coleslaw too(not on the menu that I could find) mayo based but very light on the Mayo. I added a little vinegar and it was delish(I prefer vinegar based slaw). I also had the chowder and it was good as well but not on the level of the Halibut. The horseradish was spicy and absolutely delightful! Staff was friendly and efficient. The line was long(as expected from the reviews and word of mouth) and it did take a bit for the food to be ready but the staff was working non stop the entire time. The place is just that busy! Need to come back and try the crab, the salmon burger, and the catch of the day sandy. Got the fish and chips, and a side of coleslaw. The fish and chips were SO good! Came with a container of tartar sauce...coleslaw....it was fine, just not a lot of flavor. The fish and fries hit the spot on our way of Newport! Bathrooms were the portapotties, but thankfully, they had a hand washing sink inside. This place is always busy! There's a reason. I had the captains platter, choose the fish and chips instead. It's a little too greasy, especially the oysters, I prefer pan-fried oysters. The halibut, however, could not get enough. The salmon bites were missing. Instead, extra oysters. No calamari rings, kinda a bummer. My friend had a shrimp sandwich. It was excellent. Colorful building and picnic tables, right off the 101 Highway. They cook crab in front of the building and have an old-school fish monger vibe inside. The service is a little slow and disorganized, but it is worth it. You can have your order there or have it packaged to-go. There is also seating inside and in the market, which is open for easy access to both. The fish and chips were okay, nothing special. I was excited for the Hickory Smoked Salmon Candy, and it was YUMMY! The price is a little high for the amount that comes in a 4 oz cup, but it is so good and sweet. They also have a Dungeness crab cocktail, which is YUMMY, also. Watch out for shells, I got 4 shell pieces in my 4 oz cup of crab. And the cocktail sauce WAS SPICY HOT from horseradish! You can also order tons of different seafood. Would recommend for the experience and food. Seats are plus size approved. I've been going here for years for their amazing fresh seafood. My favorite is the halibut fish & chips! They have superior customer service & I always feel appreciated & welcomed.
