What a pleasant surprise to find such a gem ! Its was my first time trying Japchae which was absolutely delicious .. and the Honey Garlic chicken wings gave me the chills they were so good !! What a great find! If you’re looking for a good Korean Fried Chicken place? THIS IS IT! Good food, chill vibe, and good service. We ordered some other dishes than just fried chicken, and everything else tasted really good. My favorite was the creamy udon, it was smoky, creamy, and delicious. Best Korean BBQ restaurant in this town. We ordered a 42.00 dollars per person BBQ combo. If you want to eat Steamed eggs or Soy bean paste stew you can add more 3dollars each. We ate Steaks, briskets, spicy pork, Bulgogi etc.. wow those are delicious and super yummy. Meats, veggies and Korean Home style side dishes are fresh and delicious, Korean Beer and Korean Soju are perfect combination with them. And Our server lady is awesome and great communicates each other. She taught us how to cook and grilled meats. She was super helpful and kind so much. When we want to eat Dinner Korean BBQ again Definitely we will be back Shin Sung. My friend, her husband, me and my husband had such a wonderful time together. Thank you Shin Sung! You’re the Best.! The concept of the space is pretty cool. It reminds me a bit of places I used to eat at in Philly. There aren't that many tables I think like 6 tables from 2person to 8person seating. Service was really slow and almost seemed they didn't want to be there or be working. The food was all very heavy and greasy so be aware. Amongst 3 people we shared half and half wings, cheese corn, spicy pork bulgogi (rice is extra charge), korean pancake and cheese spicy rice cake. I tried to find something else on the menu to balance but it would have been a noodle dish or soup but not really what I was looking for. The korean pancake is thick so it's on the heavier side. The rice cakes were okay nothing really special. The chicken isn't like a whole chicken they're a mix of wings and legs and they're fairly small. Marinated meats are so delicious. We chose plan B $33/person. $16 for soju, way marked up. Good dipping sauce. They replace the grill when it turns black. Cold sides are: seasoned shredded radish, bean sprout, kimchi, broccoli, sweet potatoes, and fish cakes - all you can eat even rice if you chose the all you can eat plan. The only thing that ruined our experience is the Korean lady that keep touching our thongs, putting meat and cooking our meat on the grill. Our brisket got overcooked and tasted like burnt. SERVERS PLEASE STOP TOUCHING THE FOOD. LET US COOK OUR OWN FOOD. We came here to cook our own food in an open flame. We got kimchi jeon and pork belly bokkeum, and both were absolutely delicious. The jeon was perfectly crispy on the outside and hot and fluffy on the inside. Portions are big. We barely ate anything before having to ask for to-go containers. Banchan was good; nothing necessarily outstanding. The restaurant was busy, but the staff was very kind, patient, quick, and efficient. We didn’t feel like we waited long at all for any part of our dining experience. This review is for Underground Kitchen, not Shin Sung restaurant-which is located next to the restaurant. We got to the restaurant around 4pm. They open at 2pm. It was the prefect time to go since the dinner rush hadn’t started. The restaurant is located on the bottom floor. So you do have to walk down a long flight of stairs. The restaurant is not a large space, and it’s a pretty dark ambiance inside. The wait staff is nice, but they can also get really busy. We had to wait awhile for someone to take our order and also our check. We ordered onion rings, spicy rice cake, chap chae, honey garlic chicken, spicy seafood udon stir fry. We were not disappointed. Food is good. We will be coming back. They do take out orders as well.
