We really wanted to like this place. It was my husband's birthday and we wanted somewhere walkable from Verde Mar. We got the mixed fish plate for two. Fish was fresh but hard to eat. Lot's of bones and since it was battered and fried it was hard to make out what was what. Potatoes were bland but the salad was fresh. Place was empty but service was so-so. Waiter didn't speak great english. He offered us "big" water but it never came. Misunderstood our wine order. House wine wasn't bad. NOTE: you have to push the button next to the glass front door to open it. Once inside restaurant is upstairs. All I can say is that the food was really good. We had been looking to eat here for a few days, and finally decided to go tonight. The grilled sea bream was absolutely delicious, and so was the grilled squid. Combined with a bottle of local wine, I can only give them five stars! Very friendly and helpful staff— seemed family owned— who provided us with excellent local wine and AMAZING sea food. Very fresh fish. We did a fish platter for two, which came with salad, three types of fish, potatoes, yams, sweet potatoes, tomato rice and complimentary bread with cheese. The fish was truly delicious and well cooked and the rest of the sides had really good flavor (not like American “afterthought” sides). Food is good but a little bit expensive. I recommend for you to taste shrimps. They say that it one of the best in the island. It was very good. At the beginning of lunch they give you a plate of starters without asking and everything you will eat from that plate will be counted in your bill. Lunch for two costed 60 eur. Brilliant experience! Highly recommend! We initially sat down for only a drink at cafe Monte Verde when the chef literally hand fed us his tuna steak that he was eating (because we might have been eyeing it) Naturally we stayed for dinner! The service was impeccable and all the staff super friendly and fun(our waiter invited us into the kitchen to choose which fish we would like and all the dishes he recommended to us were absolutely scrumptious). All this plus the restaurant has a beautiful view of the ocean and I even ended up taking a picture with the chef to round off the evening!

Don't waste your time or money. Our waiter was the most rude and unhelpful person I've ever interacted with at any restaurant, in any county. Every question was met with either "I don't know" or some insulting response. He handed us a wine menu, and we asked what his recommendation was - "I don't know I don't drink wine". There was no beer listed, my partner asked what beer and he said "look at the bar what do you think". I was interested in trying the fried fish and asked if he recommended - "its something cheap and fast food I wouldn't eat that". I asked how the grilled fish was prepared, like garlic or lemon and he said "I'm not the chef I don't know can't share the secret recipe". How does a waiter have no idea how a simple dish is prepared, is how fish is cooked a secret? Service was slow. If you love fishes and seafoods highly recommend there, I was late there for lunch the owner very friendly let me in, waiter professional, friendly 😃👍👍 I had different types of fishes, so happy to my stomach, delicious 😋 near by the beach ❗️

The fish soup was very good, its actually the only thing I would recommend here. the grilled tuna was a disappointment, 3/4 pieces were dry. The fried fish was too salty. They bring you an appetizer, when i asked how much it costs i didnt get an answer so i send it back, i saw in another review that the owner says that they have the prices on the menu at the table, but its not true, they give you a piece of paper where all the main dishes are listed. We didn't get a menu for drinks and also not a price for the appetizers. Its not worth the price, average cooking and it takes ages until you get your food. If you love proper fresh fish this is the place for you! A simple menu consisting solely of what's been caught that day. We shared a mixed fish grill and it was the freshest fish I've ever had. A bargain with a bottle of local wine and fresh local cheese and bread thrown in to start. Do note fish is the only thing on the menu so won't be a good place for vegetarians or fussy eaters!
