Excellent service here. They are very attentive without being intrusive. A beautiful restaurant in a picturesque little town, Izamal. The food was promptly delivered and was very tasty. We were not sure of where to go to eat a meal in Izamal but this would be a very highly recommended stop for a meal, for sure! We shared sikil pak to start and salbutes for our main lunch. The Chaya con piña was delicious, as was the cafe de olla at the end of the meal. Lovely place to enjoy authentic regional food! Restaurante Kinich in Izamal is truly an extraordinary experience that always leaves a lasting impression. This hidden gem offers a unique culinary journey into traditional ancestral Mayan cuisine, where every dish is a masterpiece crafted with ingredients grown on site. The star of the menu, the pollo pibil, is a true testament to the culinary expertise at Restaurante Kinich. The succulent chicken, marinated and cooked to perfection, is a flavorful delight that captures the essence of Mayan flavors. Equally impressive is the sopa de lima, a refreshing and zesty soup that combines local citrus and turkey with fragrant spices, creating a bowl of warmth that transports you to the heart of Yucatan. The enfrilojadas de camote showcase the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. This dish, featuring locally sourced yam, is a delightful blend of flavors and textures, leaving your taste buds dancing with joy. And for those with a sweet tooth, the flan de café is an absolute must-try. Silky and rich, it's a perfect finale to an already remarkable culinary journey and pairs beautifully with their cafe de olla. Beyond the exceptional cuisine, the service at Restaurante Kinich is nothing short of outstanding. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience, providing attentive and friendly service that adds a personal touch to the entire visit. The warmth and hospitality of the team truly elevate the overall dining experience. The attention to detail is evident, creating an ambiance that complements the rich culinary offerings. The lush vegetation surrounding the dining area enhances the overall charm, making it a serene and picturesque setting to enjoy a memorable meal. Restaurante Kinich is a culinary haven in Izamal, Yucatan, offering a rare and authentic glimpse into the traditional Mayan cuisine. From the outstanding dishes to the impeccable service and beautiful ambiance, this restaurant stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. After eating at about 30 restaurants across the Yucatán, this was hands-down the best. - very tasty Yucatanean/Mayan food - beautiful setting under a thatched roof and surrounded by a garden - unique and refreshing cocktails made with local liquors, fruit and herbs (some of which are grown in their garden) - friendly and prompt service Tip: make sure to follow the path through the garden to see the beautiful bar and the open air kitchen where they cook several of the dishes Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $200–300 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Amazing Yucatan cuisine. The restaurant is usually busy so be prepared to wait a little bit before getting a table. However, it’s the worth the wait. Price per person $900–1,000

Probably the best restaurant we went to in our two week trip to Mexico. A beautiful restaurant servicing delicious local foods. Excellent service. We were a party of 4 adults. Everything we ordered was really good, perhaps with the slight exception of the desserts, which were maybe a little too special. This place is very much in demand. Best to book in advance, or arrive early. Highly recommended. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $1–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Pretty cool spot. Very busy, so arrive early, but many tables. Good service. Good food. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $700–800 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
A beautiful meal, we tried Sopa de Lima and Almond Deer for the first time, absolutely delicious! The staff were lovely. The Deer dish was a bit pricier than the general Mexican dishes but worth it. The restaurant is very tasteful, a bit colonial. The toilets are clean too. Would eat here again. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $400–500 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We stopped off here for a light lunch after wandering around Izamal. While the food and ambience was fantastic, we found our waiter, Martha, to be extremely pushy and verging on rude. As soon as we sat down, Martha asked us if we drank alcohol. I said normally yes, but we would prefer to just have soft drinks. However, she still proceeded to tell us about the special cocktails they had on offer. We felt pressured to order alcohol and she didn’t seem very happy when we asked for juice and Coke. When ordering food, Martha also tried to upsell us entrees to share (which I already said we did not want) and the most expensive dish on the menu (venison). She also asked 4-5 times throughout our short meal if we wanted anything else to drink, when I clearly said the first time we did not want anything else. When it came to paying the bill, she “recommended” that I add a 15-20% tip as that was “standard for their restaurant”. Unsurprisingly she had a sour look on her face when I told her I only wanted to tip 10%. Great food and would still recommend, but they need to work on their service. It’s too overbearing.
