NEVER go to this place. We took fish and meat, 6 hours after my bf started VOMITING and had a strong intoxication with a fever (38.8).
We didn't eat anything else that evening, so this restaurant is the only possible cause.
Our vacation was totally ruined. We didn't go to all the booked activities in the next few days (which were non-refundable).
This was completely disappointing. Besides, the food wasn't even tasty at all. We wasted money here and ruined our vacation.
P.S. Since I can't respond to the comment of the owner, I will edit my review. I understand that you want to defend your "restaurant," but this is not the case.
We are 100% sure that my bf got poisoned because of your food. We ate the same dishes during the last days. Only he ate the fish with vegetables and got poisoned. The first symptoms started after 5 hours. Which is typical for fish/vegetables poisoning.
By the way, it is worth it to highlight that the fish have not even been bone-free or even skin-free.

You would not expect such a nice restaurant in this small street. When you enter you get astonished with the spirit of this place. If you are down or upstairs it’s an experience just to be sitting there on those original chairs. Some tables are also piece of art. The decoration and architectural elements are very interesting. Then you can order from short, but complete menu. From different starters to main dish all is appetizing. I would just put more details about each dish on the paper. But that’s fine, very friendly staff will help you to explain what all those traditional names and dishes are made from. I think you can’t make wrong with any of the offered meal, we tried almost everything. Both starters and mains are delicious. They have original and traditional taste full of species and flavors. It might not be for everyone, but definitely worth it! Obrigado.

Oven-Baked Cod
One of the best places we ate on our Portugal trip! The atmosphere is welcoming, homey, and friendly. I love the architecture and history behind the building and restaurant. The owner and server are super engaging and very helpful with food suggestions and pairings. We closed the place down after 3 1/2 hrs of sitting at the table and chatting with the owner and another couple sitting near us. Just an all around good feeling with delicious home cooked food and great port! A must visit when in Porto!

I’m a little disappointed, the veal was chewy, the soup lacked in Flavour, and the cod confit had too many bones and also lacked in Flavour. Definitely not worth the price tag. The service was great and the atmosphere is very romantic but I would not return.

Super cozy and cute dinner place. Staff was super helpful and nice. The dinner was amazing. We ordered the caldo verde and pig cheek as a starter which were great. For the main course we had the veal and the sea bass, simply amazing. We had a great time, super atmosphere and quick service.

Grilled Sea Bass
Fantastic traditional Portuguese restaurant tucked away in a small side street and well worth seeking out but do book as it's listed in a few of the popular guides and isn't that large. Dining is over 2 small floors, we sat on the ground floor, both had great atmosphere, attentive service and most importantly brilliant food. Portions are generous and reasonably priced as was the wine list, Staff extremely friendly and attentive, happy to explain all the menu and to provide recommendations.

This was one of our favorite restaurants to enjoy while in Porto! It's the oldest restaurant and the inside of the building just speaks to you as you walk in. You can feel the history of countless celebrations, dates, or just family dinners in this place.
The food tasted amazing and you could taste the care, attention to detail, and heritage in the food as well. We can wait to go back!
There’s a reason this place is on Lonely Planet. The oldest restaurant in Porto, family owned and operated for 60 years. They have a great array of Portuguese staples, including the iconic Porto dish ‘tripas’, which I had, alongside a kale soup entree and a pear in Port wine dessert, all of which were delicious. On top of that, the atmosphere both inside and outside was lovely, although I do recommend booking an inside table, as it can be cold outside. The decor inside is charming, and the music selection is varied but thoroughly entertaining. Finally, and most importantly, the service was fantastic - very personable and down-to-earth. A truly spectacular, authentic Porto experience!

We had an incredible meal here—the most memorable from our time in Porto! The food was delicious (get the oven baked cod and don’t sleep on the poached pear with port for dessert) and the service was so helpful, friendly, and warm. We left feeling truly taken care of. Top notch. Can’t wait to come back!
