This place is easily 5 star. I went here twice, it was that good. Opposite Hotel Africa, very local, not many tourists here. Super friendly waiter and chef, 2 story seating, and was recommended by the hotel. Excellent food, the lamb cous cous is the bomb. Grilled fish, very fresh. Prices are very affordable, ~11 dinars for mains. It's off the main street which is filled with tourist traps. We were a bit skeptical about the place. It was the first one we've tried after arriving in Tunisia. The food was good and we were told by our guide afterwards that they recommend it for the traditional Tunisian food. Great local restaurant in the centre of Tunis. They have every typical Tunisian dish at very cheap prices. The quality and quantity of the food is great, so is the restaurant staff. Totally recommended. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

We hadn't eaten since breakfast after leaving our hotel in Yasmine Hammamet and headed to Tunis for an overnight stay at a nearby hotel. We found Restaurant Sfax / Takeaway on a side street as we left our hotel to go out for the evening. The menu prices were amazing at just over the equivalent of £4 GBP for lamb chops/cutlet served with chips and salad. There were several tables inside to sit down and eat. There were several local people eating too, so we took a chance. Service was very quick and suddenly a huge basket of bread appeared, speedily followed by a kind of bean broth and a plate of pasta in a tomato sauce base. These were announced as 🆓. The food we ordered was plentiful and very tasty. An unusual cut of lamb from what we would usually expect but well cooked, leaving a little pinkness - just as we like it. A bottle of water too. Typical restaurant "Sfaxien", i.e. speciality is fish couscous, which is very tasty and excellent value. Nice brik with tuna, comes piping hot, as it should, freshly cooked. Welcoming and friendly staff. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person TND 10–20
