Amazing service by a really kind and attentive lady named Raquel! Raquel made sure we were seated promptly, and helped make us feel as comfortable as possible. She was fast, very friendly and professional at the same time! Food was yum and timing was good. Thank you Raquel for making Oro Bistro a memorable and fun night for my friends and I, we won’t forget that awesome Bistro because of the great service!

The Oro restaurant is part of a six star hotel The Carlin Hotel. We had a experience like no other, we going to dinner. As we drove in and was meet by a friendly staff member who parked our car this was the a start to a great night. We walk into the restaurant the piono was playing accompanning a very good singer. We where greated immediately our table wasn't ready yet but we where taken to a nice bar area. As soon as our table was ready we where seated. At all times the staff was very attentive but not intrusive, very professional. They knew their menu and wines. We even got to meet the owner of the hotel what a interesting man and took time to talk with us. I told him where going for a walk after dinner he invited us to leave our car in his carpark. A foot note the owner plays a mean piono. The food is divin and we will be back. We are saving up our money to stay the weekend. We are a older couple not rich but we where treated like rock stars. Thank you so much for giving us such a great night.

Beautiful fresh seafood platter and to-die-for lamb + amazing service, live music in a stunning restaurant overlooking Queenstown. Overall lux dining experience - I will definitely revisit when I'm back in Queenstown.

Six star fine dining from Queenstown’s newest ultra luxury hotel the Carlin. At first the atmosphere felt quite stiff, with a lot of wait staff standing around the back of house. Once we settled in and the amuse bouche was served Oro really hit its stride. When you come to a place like this, you expect a hot shot chef to perform, and boy did he. The story of Oro is great, and the accompanying color palette/decor is refined and sophisticated. The market fish was delicious, and chef didn’t miss with the venison either. Overall great experience.

We stumbled across Oro when we were looking for somewhere to have dinner on a Tues night. We definitely hit the jackpot as every single dish was simply outstanding!! Great experience from start to finish, cocktails were lovely and exceptional service too from staff that clearly know how to deliver a fine dining experience. Would highly recommend a visit to Oro.

Had the seafood platter and it was fantabulous and good value for money. The bartender is amazeballs at mixing cocktails. Hats off to the staff and hope they get a Michelin star one day!

Horrible experience.Four of us dined in this restaurant. We were very excited as they say it is a good fine dining restaurant. Sorry, I have to say we are very disappointed at both food and service. The food doesn't worth the price we paid even we got 50% off through First Table. Below is a very long detailed review on the dishes we ordered. Please skip it if you don't have time to read.
We ordered a small size seafood platter, and duck liver for starters. Roast quail, crumb veal, 900gm Tomahawk with pepper sauce and Truffle mushroom sauce as main dish, beetroot salad and sauteed vegetable as side. The restaurant also offered us a free soup as starters. We think the duck liver and beetroot salad were good and worth a try. However, we do not recommend the rest dishes we ordered. The dinning experience was awful.
The seafood platter: Oysters are quite creamy and nice, however one was not completely cleaned so still had some sand on the shell and the meat. The meat of lobster bug was quite soggy and mushy with no seasoning. The batter for the battered fish was not crispy and quite thick, it tasted like a dough.
As for the main, roast quail was boring and I couldn't taste any roast flavor. Also, we already finished the dish by the time the gravy for the quail was served after 8-10mins no apologies. I tasted the sauce after meal, I believe it was made from powder stock with water but not from real stock or bone.
Deep fry steak, oro veal oscar: The worst dish that night. It tasted very oliy! One reason might be that they pre-fried the meat before and put it in fryer to heat up again, however the second time in deepfryer was not long enough, so bread crump absorbed too much fat.
Tomahawk steak: The waiter recommended medium rare for 900gm with bone (estimated weight 300gm). However, the steak was cooked rare with no seasoning, and the bone was definitely more than 300gm. The pepper corn sauce was not well balanced with too much spices (MIGHT BE NUTMEG).
Sauted vegetable were overcooked boiled vegetable rather than a sauted dish.....The brussel sprout were already brown.
Service was not good either. No one followed up after we commented on the food at the end. No one refilled the water. No reminds and apologies for seving the sauce late.
Also, the waiter gave one HUGE plate to one of us after we told him there was one small plate short. RIDICULOUS!!!
Overall, we couldn't feel any fine dinning food or service at this place. I think only the price is fine dining.
