I want to love this place because it’s our neighborhood butcher (we also buy meat here), but their deli has continued to be disappointing. I ordered a BLT and got a couple leaves of romaine, two bacon strips, and a tomato slice. See the image, it’s laughable. The other order was for a Lizzie and all we got was chicken and mayonnaise. Again, see the image. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever put a sandwich order in without some kind ingredient being out/unavailable.

I’ve been a customer here for over 10 years. It started with the great BBQ meat, sauces, and rub options. Keith is very knowledgeable and I appreciate that he takes time to talk BBQ. My favorite is the Papa Q’s Magic Dust which is incredible on everything from chicken to avocado toast! The baked goods are also very good, and I will never pass on the ginger cookies! While not in the area anymore, I still travel to get the best local BBQ products, smoker pellets, and learn a few things from Keith. Cheers!
Short version: sort by Newest and you'll see a pattern. This used to be an absolutely great place to get a damn good sandwich at a fair price. You could get a cheesesteak big enough for two meals for less than $10 with homestyle pasta salad on the side. I'd often see construction workers heading in there for a meal. Not anymore, not that I've seen. I don't know exactly what happened, but some months ago, the place got new owners who have no idea what they're doing. At first I hoped the empty shelves, increased price, and quality decrease were growing pains and inflation, but I've given up hope now. Perhaps the best delis in the area is gone now. Don't bother with the replacement.
Nelson's Meats is simply amazing! Haven't had anything from there I haven't liked. The deli is my go to spot for lunch, and if you can get the short ribs they are to die for!

I'm fairly certain that this is no longer Nelson's Meats and has been bought by something called "East Coast BBQ". The store is just sad now. The meat case is never fully stocked as it used to be, chicken breasts are par-cooked sitting in the case, no bakery items or freezer stocked at all. Drastic price increases across the board. Bacon wrapped filets used to be $5.99, now they are $8.99. This place has lost all its charm and sadly i will no longer be returning to this deli.
Ordered the minnetonka blvd and Louisiana. Minnetonka was okay but more bread than anything- they also used the butt end of the bread for one side which was disappointing. Louisiana wrap was much better. :) may give it another try to see if other menu items are better.

Sad, as a local i keep giving the benefit of the doubt and unfortunately this place serves inedible food. To elaborate, the sandwiches are clearly microwaved at best, im talking microwaved chicken, rubber. Meat counter is brown (if any is available) literally 75% brown or empty. Fridge coolers sit there empty. I legitimately visited 5 times just to ensure i wasnt being brutal. Its worse every time.. I don’t leave this review without sadness. I have waited literally 5 attempts before posting. God bless, I hope you figure it out. Quite frankly surprised it has not been shut down yet. I reached out to express this concern and was hung up on.. At this point the only thing i can do is be honest via review..
This place is awesome! Friendly staff, incredible variations of cheesesteaks, tasty daily lunch specials, savory breakfast sandwiches, best meat selection around, best jerky (it goes fast!) And the buns/bread is out of this world. Been a happy customer for 8+ years.

I had their burger a few days ago and it was literally trash. I took a few bites and decided if I ate it I would get food poisoning. The fries were horrible too. How dare you serve something you wouldn't eat yourself. It will be a law office soon I suppose.
