We were invited to have dinner at Nelayan Restaurant by Mr. Terrence and Mr. Ramesh on our last night in Tanjong Jara. We arrived around 8.30 pm, and most of the other guests had already left after having dinner early. The restaurant is open-air, so it was a bit warm at night, but they provided stand fans to help cool us down.
We ordered the Angus steak and seafood pasta, and they were incredibly delicious. The only problem was that they didn't have a menu for kids, so I asked if they could make a simple carbonara pasta for my son. Unfortunately, it turned out a bit dry. So, if you want something not on the menu, be careful when ordering.
The special smoothies we had, the Bumbung, and Anjung smoothies, were really good. They were made with unique ingredients like roselle syrup, banana, and cucumber, which gave them a tangy and refreshing taste.
The waiters were very attentive and took good care of us. At night, we could also enjoy watching a bonfire from a distance, which added to the pleasant atmosphere.
The only thing that could be better is if they had a wider variety of food on the menu, like standard pastas and burgers, to give more choices to customers.
Overall, our experience at Nelayan Restaurant was enjoyable, especially with the delicious Angus steak, tasty seafood pasta, and delightful special smoothies. With a few improvements to their menu options, the restaurant could become even more popular and appealing to different tastes.

From where we were sitting, we could see the big South China sea. The Tanjung Jara curry fish was excellent,so too was the rojak. Waiters were very attentive , keep on filling up our glass with drinking water. It was interesting to see other guests enjoying themselves in the swimming pool, sunbathing , walking along the beach

Fish Head Curry
Highly suggest the dinner on the beach package. Book early as they only accept 1 couple per evening. 4 course spread was fantastic. One of the better Angus steaks I’ve had. Top notch service and accompanying bonfire for gentle heating, otherwise it would be too cold and windy. Thanking Chef Hadi, MK, and team for the splendid evening.
Food was just acceptable consider the price. The Caesar Salad was not bad, but the bread that served on it was terrible! Service was not great and slow. I didn’t feel a warm welcome. The environment was a bit too warm, but the scenery was awesome.
Food has been great here. We had steak last night which cut like butter. Previously I've had their burger at lunch time which was very tasty. The pavlova was tremendous
Food was good tho their short ribs is in the boneless style. Was quite a let down but for what it was, it was ok. Should clarify the style before ordering. Presentation was good. Pouring wine needs improving. Ambience is very nice. Service was excellent. Pricing is as expected for a place like it. Great for a romantic dinner. Beach is very nice and useable. No sure how safe the water is along this stretch. In this area always check with the locals/hotel staff. Undercurrents can be strong at times. Overall highly recommended place if what you are looking for is a spot with class, style and a nice stiff sea breeze.
The restaurant is situated within the confines of Tanjung Jara resort next to the main pool overlooking the beach. The small menu has several interesting picks. We had the som tam with chicken skewers and the signature curry fish head (I ordered with fish cutlets). The dishes were delicious and came with impeccable service.
Good scenary view and serve some nice food. Love their curry fish head rice. The fish and chips not my likey as the meat abit rough for me. Price is at high side since it is a resort. Good experience
Located at Tanjong Jara Resort. The best restaurant in this area, located right on the beach. Excellent food and drinks. Kids friendly. Wonderful and caring staff.
We were there after 5pm and super hungry. suppose kitchen closed, thanks for still serving us. The only annoying was too many flies. Else all good..beautiful view and yummy food and great service.
