My family and I have bought food from here many times and it's never consistent. Quality is all over the place. The broth was extremely dark at times, and lighter on others. Same goes for the fried wonton strips, i've had them forget to put any in the bag or only give us one for our entire order. I remember opening a bag and they were floppy and undercooked and the bag was actually sopping wet because the oil they were fried in hadn't dried. For our fortune cookies they've also forgotten to add them to our orders at all plenty of times. Or only give us 1-2. For reference, we order enough food for 3-5 people. We've gotten beef lomaine noodles before and after eating the beef my brother got really sick so we don't order it anymore. Someone else in my family also ordered a dish we didn't usually get and I don't remember what the problem was I only remember offering to cook something else so that he wouldn't be hungry. We actually used to go to a different chinese restaurant but they closed so Moonstar it is. If anyone is reading this to find out if this place is safe to eat/allergy friendly (especially nuts/peanuts) IT IS NOT, of course if you ask they'll say that it is but one ambulance ride later quickly proved them wrong, they're lucky nothing serious happened, that's how people die!! Last time I went here it smelled... bad, thankfully it wasn't that strong but it was similar to the smell you get in a nursing home or your grandma's house, I thought this was weird since restaurants tend to smell like the food the cook so maybe it's one of the ingredients but I wouldn't recommend dining-in if you're sensitive to smells TLDR: food contamination, food is sometimes undercooked and inedible, don't trust the meat here, the restaurant itself smells kinda bad Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
First time here, we have eaten at many Chinese restaurants in Stoughton and Madison and I give this place 5 stars. The food was phenomenal and we had great service. Food was hot and fresh; we dined in. Dining room was clean. The crab Rangoon were completely filled, not those dry ones that have barely any filling and are mostly wonton in all the corners. We won't go anywhere else now. My daughter who is pretty picky (she's 11) loved all of our food and that is a first. Ordered carryout for the first time. Crab Rangoon were good, as was sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli. Chow mei fun was possibly the best we’ve had in the Madison area. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 4

First time I picked up 2 orders of Crab Rangoon and 2 Sesame Chicken—- delicious! Last night we placed the same order and the chicken was so dried out and inedible, we threw away 2 orders of Sesame Chicken. Disappointing!!! The food was very good. Friends had the lunch buffet and I ordered vegetarian off the menu. There were lots of dessert options. I found the place to be very clean and the buffet price to be very reasonable. It was cash only so be prepared for that or there is an ATM Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was planning on stopping at the Chinese restaurant in Brodhead on my way home from Madison Friday night rush hour. Something told me to call just to see if the were open; recording said they'd be closed for an extended period of time. I opted to stop here and take food home. I was greeted graciously by a young man who explained the menu to me , as there were only dish names with little explanation ORDER: Crab Rangoon was TOP SHELF!! Chicken with.pea pods was Pea Pods w/chicken Cashew chicken was bland Sesame chicken was advertised as either crispy or crunchy and was neither General Tso's passed the test as good enough to eat (as he doesn't care for Chineae food) Sweet/sour soup lacked pop!! I'm hoping they are able to make omprovements to be successful Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Moonstar Chinese Restaurant, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a vibrant atmosphere that transported me straight to the heart of China. The moment I sat down, I was immediately captivated by the delightful aroma of exotic spices that filled the air. The restaurant's ambiance was beautifully designed, with elegant red lanterns hanging from the ceiling, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff, were incredibly attentive and eager to ensure my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Moonstar boasted an impressive array of dishes that spanned the rich tapestry of Chinese cuisine. From Szechuan spicy dishes to delicate dim sum, every dish presented to me was a work of art. The flavors were exquisitely balanced, with each bite offering a harmonious blend of spices and textures. The chefs at Moonstar clearly took great pride in their craft, as the presentation was nothing short of stunning!!
The lady at at the register was so rude. She under eyed the whole she snatched my money from me and threw my change back in my hand. I ordered the General Tso chicken it was dry like it was sitting up long b4 I got there. The only thing that was good was the rice. 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿 Service Take out
We got Moonstar takeout for the first time this week and loved it. The service was very friendly and the food was amazing! We had the beef and broccoli, dumplings, and egg drop soup which were all so simple and so tasty. We will definitely be back. It was a great price for the portions. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20

Not only does this page say it's all you can eat but the sign that you can see from the road says and I quote "Buffet". We took a different way home out of our way and after waiting in line we were matter-of-factly told that they only have the buffet at lunch. The sign is very deceptive and the staff was not even apologetic about the misinformation provided.
