Guests mention that it's fine to go here for the Portuguese meal. A number of people mark that you can have perfectly cooked sea bass, ravioli and steaks here. The wine list is versatile, every visitor will find something that suits their taste. Also, clients recommend this restaurant because of democratic prices. Louro is a Michelin selection and it has been awarded 1 black knife-and-fork symbol: according to the inspectors' opinion, this place maintains quite warm atmosphere.

Excellent inventive and tasty meal. Looked and tasted wonderful. Worth the journey it’s certainly off the beaten track. All the courses we had were great more expensive than many in the area but a different more modern style of cooking.

Many restaurants in Northern Portugal tend to have similar menus and serve very large portions of food, quite often for two people. Some great, some not so great. If you want a complete break from huge portions of salted cod with chips and like "fine dining" then Louro is definitely to be recommended. We went on a Tuesday night in September - small number of tables so booking essential as the restaurant was full by 9pm. There is an a la carte menu where starters are priced around €8 - €10, mains around €25 and desserts €8 or there is a five course tasting menu priced at €45. We had the tasting menu which was excellent value for money. Basil sorbet with panna cotta and octopus terrine to start followed by sea bass and tenderloin both cooked to perfection - the tenderloin was medium / rare which was perfect for us. After a spearmint palate cleanser the dessert was kefir ice cream with plums. No wine flight but Louro had a good list of wines by the bottle and also by the glass. We had wine by the glass to match the food - selection of local vinho verde, alentejo and douro wines for between €3 - 5 a glass. All in all a super meal. Perhaps the only negative is the restaurant space itself - a large room, harshly lit in places, perhaps lacking in atmosphere (certainly if you prefer the hustle and bustle of traditional restaurants in larger towns). This didn't bother us - it's all about the food here. In summary; excellent food and wine, very well presented, good service and exceptionally good value for money when compared to many "fine dining" restaurants in the UK. We enjoyed Louro and would return without doubt. It's a cut above all the other Michelin Guide restaurants we visited in Northern Portugal. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €50+

This is a unique restaurante nearby Viana do Castelo. They have a degustation menu that I really recommended. The restaurante decoration is beautiful (inside and outside). Outside there is a small garden with traditional espigueiro and table. The staff is very friendly, but there some of them with not a lot of experience. Worst of this experience was the bathroom, it is not in accordance with the decoration of the restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Hidden gem! Beautiful and delicious. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person €50+
Very underwhelming. Too expensive for the quality. 100€ for 3, not all of us had dessert. Given the region, it’s not cheap. Price would be fine if quality was there. Room: uncomfortable chair. Lighting needs to be improved. Using white lights doesn’t help to create a cosy environment. Food: small menu, which is usually a good sign of quality. For starters, pastel de berbigão was nice and tasty (the best dish we had). Pão com chouriço was very average. For main, we all had meat. Some portions were large, some were quite small. All we had was decent, nothing was above average. Very standard food at above average prices. For dessert, had chocolate cake with cheese ice cream. The ice cream was quite good, the chocolate cake was standard. Wine: small wine list, mostly with well known names. Prices were slightly on the high side vs what you find for the same wines in other restaurants. Service: very kind and professional In short, nothing we ate was bad. Nothing was awesome. Absolutely overpriced, and definitely not the best you can find in Viana
We grew tired of "typical" Portuguese food where the servings are huge and salt is often the only flavoring, so we drove outside of Viana do Costelo 10-15 minutes to Louro and we're glad we did! It was the best meal we had while in Portugal for 2.5 weeks. The food wasn't fussy or gimmicky--no pop rocks or dissolving olives like a Rui Paula place :) --but it was extremely inventive and fresh. We both had the tasting menu for €40 which was a very fair price given the quality of the food. The portion size was perfect for us. And the staff could not have been nicer. The decor is very simple, like being in a brightly-lit, spacious living room.
A great gastronomic experience in each and every one of the dishes with its innovative proposal based on traditional Portuguese cuisine. The room service is very professional and attentive. A wine list with interesting proposals but a bit too short. There are unrepresented Portuguese regions that should be present. A magnificent ending with the desserts. Outstanding.

Definitely one of the better Restaurants we have had in Portugal: Very nice food creations and polite and attentive staff made this a memorable dinner for us. The easy atmosphere also made up for the rather uncosy interior. Two little hints: vegetarian options would be very welcome and (although we know it is not very Portuguese) the dishes could have tasted a wee bit lighter at times (lemon etc.). Nevertheless, if we would stay nearby we would definitily come frequently. Thank you very much!
