Lagonda is one of those places that has been around for years and that's a good thing. The food which is no frills is great, it's refreshing to get cafe food which is just your normal sandwiches etc, rather than what you get at most cafe's these days. The decor also has a bit of a retro feel about it, like it is still the late 80s. Recommended if you want simple food with great service. I think $40 for a ham n cheese toastie n chips is abit on the high side for a quick snack but I guess it is what it is Service Dine in Meal type Other Price per person $40–50 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Been here many times, it's a charming traditional Kiwi tearoom with honest food, value and service, all of which is hard to come by now. It takes me back in time. Steak and mushroom pie and the sandwiches I had were really nice. Nice array of sweet treats on offer too. Recommended. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–40

Took ten minutes to be greeted even though we were the only ones there, and many workers walking past. Should have been my red flag to leave. Paid $18 for the sadest bacon and egg burger imaginable, eggs on toast were $12 and was not asked how we wanted them cooked - but pretty standard tasting. Food tasted fine but lacked love. The cafe assistant forgot our coffee so we asked for a refund. Won't be returning, better cafes around to spend your money in Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $40–50 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We were recently on holiday in the south and decided it was worth extending our trip to Oamaru. So very pleased we did as this was our stop for a real old traditional Kiwi Tearooms. Their thickshakes are to die for and served in real mikshake maker cups, none of this plastic/wax stuff. Food was beautiful, prices very reasonable, service impeccable. Will recommend this place as long as I'm alive.

This milk bar and restaurant reminds me to a time when I was a young lad in Sydney and we had these restaurants. They are few and far between now. I just grabbed a milk shake but it was the best Strawberry milkshake on my 2 week holiday. Wish I had more time to get something to eat. Super friendly staff and great offering of cafe meals. Get something here if you are in Oamaru
