While the restaurant's ambience was lovely and the staff provided good service, unfortunately, I cannot recommend the chicken dishes. The chicken nibbles 🍗 and the butter chicken pizza 🍕 had a distinctive odour that suggested the chicken wasn't fresh. We removed all the chicken from the pizza to have the pizza, lol 😆. Funny but not funny - The fries and salad were acceptable, although we found it odd that the salad was served on a flat plate rather than a salad bowl. Regrettably, would we come back to the restaurant - Sorry, not sorry, but we cannot, in good faith, recommend this restaurant.

Beautiful location overlooking the beach and bay. We walked in without a booking and had no trouble getting a table, but I'd recommend booking given how busy the place became as we waited. The food was excellent and beverages cold. Shout out to the friendly staff who worked hard all evening!

Our wee family dined here on our way home to CHCH. Amazing food! It was tasty, hot and well seasoned. The service was quiet and unobtrusive - wonderful.
I was dubious due to previous reviews, however we had a great meal. The Blue cod was top notch and the ribs were just right. Thanks team!

Excellent food in a great location! The outdoor area was full so we sat at a booth inside. It is set up well so we still had a great view over the water. Because it was so busy we were advised there was a wait of 45 minutes for dinner. When it arrived (chicken souvlaki and lamb shank) the food was perfectly cooked in generous - but not over the top - serves. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert that had the perfect crack of sugar. Great spot for a leisurely evening.

We arrived late into Kaikoura and made a last minute reservation at King Tide Eatery. The steak was amazing, and the lamb shank and burgers were all delicious. Best meal we have had since arriving in New Zealand a week ago. Congratulations to the Chef. Highly recommend.

King tide was a lovely experience tonight for dinner . There is an amazing view out to the ocean . With friendly and helpful staff . They help getting my father in and out of the restaurant and opening the car door as he has limited mobility .
The lamb shanks were yummy and filling. Very clean and looks newly fitted out or refurbished. Would highly recommend. They have a great selection of beverages to choose from. They also made a custom vegetarian dish for my sister although there was already three dishes available on the menu.
Great work and thanks allot for your hospitality. We will visit again if passing through .
