I visited King Coconut Family Restaurant in February and had a delightful experience. It was here that I tasted my first Kottu dish, and it was truly fantastic.
The restaurant has a warm and inviting ambiance, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal with family and friends. The staff at King Coconut were incredibly friendly and accommodating, ensuring that I had a pleasant dining experience throughout my visit.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the Kottu dish. This Sri Lankan street food staple was a revelation to my taste buds. The combination of finely chopped roti, vegetables, spices, and your choice of meat or seafood creates a burst of flavors that is simply exquisite. The Kottu at King Coconut was expertly prepared, with the roti perfectly crisped and the ingredients well-balanced. It had just the right amount of spice to give it a satisfying kick without overpowering the other flavors.
In addition to the Kottu, King Coconut offers an extensive menu with a variety of Sri Lankan and international dishes. From their fragrant rice and curry to their mouthwatering seafood options, there is something to suit every palate. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable, giving excellent value for money.
Overall, my first experience with Kottu at King Coconut was truly memorable. It was a delightful introduction to Sri Lankan cuisine, and I can't wait to revisit this restaurant again to explore more of their menu. If you're looking to try authentic Sri Lankan food in a cozy setting, I highly recommend giving King Coconut Family Restaurant a visit.

One of the only places in Cambridge that serves really authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Run by a small family of Sri Lankans so they know the real flavours of Sri Lanka food. I tried the cashew curry, black pork curry and the devilled chicken. They were fantastic not too spicy and got the flavours just right. Really good service and enjoyed chatting to the staff as well. Also featured in the Cambridge foodies IG page I highly recommend if you are after authentic Sri Lankan food.

Nice family restaurant beside the browns beach.. 👨👩👧👦🌊 They have a good variety of seafood meals.. 🦞🥙 Customer service is good But lack of staff is a thumbs down for them.. 👎 It might take some time to serve you meals with the crowd.. You should not taste their Pizzas.. It’s a waste of money..🍕🤮

It is very sad to post this review. But at least the Management or the Owners of this place should see this and make a change.
We have been visiting this place for almost 10 years and their food was amazing. Pizzas, Grills, Lasagnas, rice, meats and everything were so tasty and quality. But recently we ordered food and it was a horrible experience. I added a picture of the seafood pizza they served. It was not even baked properly, just fooled with so much of sweet tomato ketch up. Not even pizza sauce. Also the hot butter cuttlefish was completely cold and was not crispy a little bit. This is the second time we faced it. Also the Rice was not even a good samba or a good basmati, it was something like serving in a very normal food place with a large seed. Also taste was really useless. Some street food places have better rice than this. Not worth for the price at all.
Feel very sad about this place. Because they were one of the best beach front restaurants before.

Went here to buy food for a trip recently and also a while ago to have a meal with friends. Has a spacious car park and is located on the side of the Hotel Road which is a very convenient location. It has access to the beach and has an amazing view of the sea. The food used to be excellent and the staff was also friendly and helpful. However, now the food is horrible and the service is not upto the standard. The chicken and cheese omlette in the menu was just a plain omlette with a pinch of cheese, didn't have one piece of chicken. The fish Fingers and the fried fish had no difference whatsoever except for the price. It was completely soggy after opening the container and too oily and tasted really bad. The food nearly ruined our trip, so not thinking about returning to this place. However the prices were reasonable and they prepared it fairly quickly.
Visited King coconut after a very long time. I think its been a good 5 years and wow have things changed. They have had a complete overhaul of their restaurant and it has become so much more upbeat and spacious. We ordered our standard set of dishes. I mean when I go here I just want my baked crabs…. Nothing more. But however we got tempted and ordered a pizza as well. Overall the food was nice, the crabs could have been a little bigger for the price or the number of pieces could have been increased to 4 in a plate. Apart from that ofcourse I enjoyed the evening and the ambience they have set.
Ambience 8/10
Baked crab 6/10
Pizza 6/10
The place is not too busy. Suits for family dinning. The rates are bit high and I feel food is not worth for the money but I think the taste is suits for foreigners. Take away option available. There is a bar. Parking space is big enough. The restaurant is open to the sea and good view at evening.
