We stopped off in Te Anau on our way to Milford Sound and our tour bus dropped us off at Hollyford Cafe for a quick 15mins break to use the facilities and grab some snacks / meals.
I had the venison and mushroom pie, it was really good. Tasty and generous filling and the pastry was buttery and flaky.
Inside and outdoor seating available and facilities are clean.

The seating area is large. Staff is friendly. Located in Te Anau, this cafe offers cabinet foods and freshly prepared meals. On the way from Queenstown to Milford Sound, this is a nice place to take a rest. There is a souvenir shop with a wide selection of items.

The food was so-so but the service of the lady around beverage area is bad. All I asked for was some hot water but she completely ignored and gave me an unpleasant stare. However, the old lady over the food counter was polite and very approachable. Overall, the food is just ok but for a stop before you head to Milford Sound is fine. Nevertheless just a reminder for those that are looking for a good brekkie cafe kinda spot, this is definitely not. This cafe is more of a quick rest stop before you continue your journey.

If you would like to enjoy a meal in Te Anau, this is not the place to do it, the service in the beverages area is rude and not helping about anything at all, the manager wasn't here so they were not selling alcohol, you will notices until you order the food and beverages, the menu said that you can order gluten-free option, but actually you cant because they dont have it. There are a lot of troubles with wifi, and they dont even know whats going on with the wifi. Hopefully this is the last time I came to this cafe.

Stopped on our way to Milford sound as part of the tour. The staff are rude, inefficient and it’s the worst coffee I’ve tasted in all the 72 countries I’ve visited so far. Not sure what the tour guide stopped here! Don’t waste your money and time!

My husband and I were the only 2 people in the cafe when we arrived and we waited over half an hour for food. Husband ordered the eggs Benedict and all it tasted like was vinegar and the salmon was old. I ordered a veggie meal and it was dry and stale. High prices and we both left hungry.

Seriously, could I have been any more of an inconvenience than I felt.
We arrived at 8:30 this morning to buy a coffee and some croissants to go or takeaway.
I walked in and went straight to where the coffee was being made and made a friendly comment of ‘wow, I am so looking forward to a coffee today’. The barista just looked at me with a blank look and went on making the coffee that she was making. Then she said to me after a few minutes that if I wanted to order coffee I have to go over to the other counter. Not sure why she couldn’t have told me that at the beginning.
So I walked over to the other counter where a young girl was writing on a sign. She totally ignored me and I stood there for at least two or three minutes before I actually said to her, ‘ just wondering who I can order coffee from.’ She looked at me and said ‘oh, do you want coffee?’
In my head I felt like saying, well, why would I be standing here? But I did not.
I ordered my two coffees and croissant‘s, and then I went back to the barista which is where I had to wait for my coffees. Meanwhile she was making coffees for somebody else, and she put them on the counter and pushed the buzzer, and I knew they were for the people that were outside. The coffees just sat there for a while, and eventually the people from outside came in, and they said, this must be our coffee. The buzzer did not go off.
And the barista replied with no apology. that sometimes they don’t work.
Meanwhile I was waiting for my coffees, and she prepared them, and when she gave them to me, there was no smile, and when I thanked her enthusiastically for them, she just literally stared at me as if I had not said anything.
As I walked out, two people from the kitchen walked out with food to give to the people who were waiting outside. These were the people who had got the coffees. The two servers looked like they hated their jobs, and I noticed that they did not place the food in front of the people, but simply placed it on the edge of the table for the people to reach across.
Seriously would not recommend this place at all simply for their hospitality. Thankfully my coffee to go was drinkable.

Very busy with coach tourist groups. The food was alright. More of a canteen than a cafe. Had to get a buzzer for when your coffe's ready. Not a great atmosphere, it's like sitting in a shop.
