I have followed this establishment since before it was even properly established and it has soared. In the last few years they have poured a lot of effort into reworking a good spot into an absolutely marvelous spot. Everything is glorious from the view to the food and of course the wine. Just be sure to make a reservation before heading over and note that the winery does not serve meals, only wine tastings, and that the food is sold at the sister establishment in the same building called The Jetty just down a hallway.
Also be sure to take a little walk around that giant tank! It’s like another little world.

What an amazing find! Friends of mine suggested that we stop at Fryer's Cove for lunch. Tucked away between fish packing warehouses and oyster farms, I probably never would have found it.
It is a beautifully appointed restaurant and winery with gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a wide variety of food (mostly seafood) available on the menu with traditional Western Cape dishes such as roosterbrood and kerrievis.
We had a delicious icy cold lager each, some roosterbrood, fresh oysters, and hake and chips. Ample portions for the hungry travellers we were.
We also has a quick look in the wine cellar where they age bottles of their Bamboo Bay wines in a seawater aquarium, complete with fish and anemone swimming past the chilled bottles.
Fryer's Cove is definitely worth another visit!

We did the Fryer's Cove wine tasting selection of 3 wines. It was a good choice.
We enjoyed the outdoor seating which overlooked the bay.
Beautiful venue and views and a recommended stop if you visit the area.

Fryer’s Cove is an old factory transformed into a winery and restaurant.
They offer wine tastings and the wine is truly unique and delicious. You can literally taste the saltiness that stuck to grapes that were used to produce the wine.
The view, atmosphere, sound of the waves breaking and even the smell is absolute divine.
Expect delicious good size oysters and salads you won’t get around every corner. The sea food is good with a bit of a twist, the mussels are crumbed and deep fried. There are other mussel options as well...
Don’t expect super fast and great service, staff is limited and some still in training. Go here to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Though it is a good experience for the kids, there isn’t much for them to do.
It’s best to make a booking, especially over weekends and peak season.
If you don’t like the sun, when making your booking, ask if you can sit in the shaded area or inside. Otherwise take a hat and sunblock. They have umbrellas but, umbrellas only do that much.
The wind and be chilly even when the sun is scorching hot. ALWAYS take a light jacket or something just to keep warm.
Photographers, this is a great spot especially if you are interested in ruins, old buildings and architecture.
If you like fishing, you can also fish here with a small/medium sized rod. The spot is mostly good for catching ‘haring’.
(Atlantic herring is a herring in the family Clupeidae.)

The best kept secret of the west coast. The fish curry and roosterkoek is a must have. All of the flavours and textures are there. The Greek salad is fresh and crispy and the best accompaniment. Great experience. There is also a small wine tasting bar as you enter the restaurant, if you prefer just having a wine tasting. The staff are great. The kitchen closes a little earlier than the wine tasting, last order for food is just before 5pm. And the wine tasting ends at 6pm. Absolutely LOVED it!
