Cute cozy cafe near the canning dim sum. The bread was fresh and served warm. Variety of butter selections for you to choose. Loves the ambience as there are not many people on weekend 🤝🏼

The cafe itself is a beautiful and bright minimalist space, offering a comfortable venue for chill hangouts or a date. You can satisfy your carb cravings here with pastries, sourdough and sandwiches lined up, and pair them with your coffee.
Friendly staff, good service, however i would says that price are on the higher side.

I visited this cafe on weekday tea time and the cafe was considered crowded. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant could be better because it was too hot and the seats were not comfortable. There were very less greeneries. By adding some real plants along the side of the glass house, it could be better.
The food was ok, abit on the pricier side. We ordered their sourdough and the presentation was nice, tastes decent and not too pricey. The tiramisu however wasn’t what I’ve expected. It has the Nutella taste in it which makes it very weird. I couldn’t finish the piece.

The ambiance is rather average, the pastries are passable, but the coffee lacks both aroma and flavor, resulting in a disappointing experience that doesn't justify the price.

Minimalistic cafe with really chill vibes. They had pastries and sandwiches lined up to go as well as heavier food options if you’re hungry. Had a latte and pesto chicken sandwich. The coffee was good, the pesto chicken sandwich had fresh ingredients but personally I prefer my pesto to taste greener as they served it up creamier than expected
When I found out about this boulangerie in Ipoh, I was surprised that this exists here. I bet not many locals know the meaning of boulangerie, which in French it’s translated into “bakery”.
This is one of my favourite place to be for it’s ambience and coffee. If you’re looking for a good sourdough in Ipoh, this is your place too! You can find different types of French breads here with different kinds of sourdough too - my personal favourite is the fig & pecan sourdough and their focaccia. Besides bread, there’s also a variety of brunch menu options, some slice cake - which kinda average in my opinion. I also like their beverage menu which has seasonal coffee concoction at times. They also offer homemade kombucha - after all it is what’s they are called - “Ferment”. There’s also some homemade artisan butter which is rare in Ipoh, my personal favourite is the truffle butter. Overall, I do find some menu items tend to overpriced but I also find their sourdough/bread prices are rather affordable. Before some of you disagree, sourdough recipes are hard to master and they take time to learn/make. :)
I’ve personally recommended some friends here after my first visit. Ever since, many of my local friends are surprised too that such boulangerie existed in Ipoh. Then I heard from someone that this and the well known Pâtisserie in Ipoh is actually from the same owner. Either if it’s true or not I can’t be sure, and today I found out another cafe which specialise in coffee is too their “sister company”. I must say, the person behind these establishments are pretty clever :) although among these three, Ferment is my favourite to-date :D
In my last visit, I saw some new boutique products were available to sell over their racks. If I could recommend (and the owner reading this), there’s this Denmark brand which I thought of after visiting here and it would just look so nice on those racks. — FRAMA. I understand it can be risky for such niche product to be place and sell in Ipoh, but it would look so nice in this little boulangerie :))
Another recommendation, if it’s possible to get rid of those card stamps and create membership base system, it would be awesome for the complimentary sourdough :D keep up the good work!
P/S, kudos to your friendly staffs too! :)

Visited this sourdough bakery for their tartines - tried both truffle egg and avocado salmon. Unfortunately, the sourdough slices were too thin, dry, and not chewy. The scrambled eggs were overly oily. Service was slow, and it took quite a while to receive our order. Also, it's worth noting that water is chargeable. Felt the overall experience was overpriced for what was offered.

I ordered their sandwich with a drink, costs around rm 35. For my palate, I could not appreciate much difference. Atmosphere is definitely a plus as the are appears intimate. Menu appears to be suitable for those with small appetites as portions are quite small. This is just not for me. I am quite sure the ingrediants are top notch but unfortunately I am unable to appreciate it, thus for me the price is quite expensive. Service is ok. Parking is aplenty
A true gem! The service is top-notch, and the environment is delightful. A perfect spot for a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

This is definitely a 10/10 place I will come back again when I'm in Ipoh! I highly recommend this place since in Ipoh there's nothing much to do except to eat.
I love that the staff allowed us to do a butter tasting. They have 8 flavours of butter - truffle mushroom, spiced tomato, caramelised onion, wasabi nori, pesto, garlic parsley, lemon drill, kombu miso.
I wanted to buy all flavours back to Singapore as all were so tasty! Ended up, we bought 5 jars back - I picked Truffle Mushroom & Kombu Miso butter. My mum picked Caramelised Onion.
The butter is so well mixed with the salt, I didn't feel like I was eating a bunch of salt. And it's the texture of the butter that makes me want to have more and more. It's creamy and soft!
We also realise that this shop is opened by the same owner of Etre Patisserie. Super nearby so it was easy for us to do cafe hopping in that area!
