The dark room is literally a restaurant without lights. There are at least 3 different dinning areas to choose from. If you don’t want to be seen while eating out, this restaurant is for you.
You can hardly identify faces due to the poor lighting but their meals are absolutely delicious.
I enjoyed their cocktail as well.
Ps: There’s delivery service available for those who order online.

I recently visited Dark Room by Yellow plate after several months & I’m pleased with the improvements that have been made. I ordered the shredded chicken with cheese & fries. It didn’t take too long to arrive & service was good. One thing I noticed was how busy the pick-up section on the ground floor was. Majority of their customers order online for pick up or delivery. The food is good but the price is alarming, but it’s this way because of the quantity, you won’t be able to finish the food alone except you have a voracious appetite 🤭, so it’s better for groups. And the packaging for the take-away container is unique & also adds to the cost. Overall it was a great experience & I’ll be revisiting again.

What I love more than the meals is the packaging n we couldn’t agree more. In as much as I’d like to dine some day I can’t just resist this fine cute containers the drinks and meals come in. Totally reusable, portable, clean and trendy food packs. I love them all.
Baileys milkshake is my personal fave as it does contain a large amount of baileys (for a toothsome lover like myself who despises hard, bitter drinks). But on my second order baileys wasn’t included and the shake was too sweet I had to add chocolate vodka on it to tone down the sugar a bit. Plus no syrup was included as well.
Red Velvet Milky Puff with Oreo toppings and Chocolate drizzled Puff with Oreo toppings is also a nice one.
Suya fries is simply fries with suya pepper (wasn’t hot like I’d prefer) and is a side ie doesn’t come with any protein.
It’s always a busy hive for the most part of the day, n their service is fair despite the amount of orders they get but the wait time for meals & drink prep is above 90mins. Even if you order.

The atmosphere here is really a dark room. It took a while for my eyes to get adjusted. It’s an adult restaurant that’s for sure! It’s a place where people get cozied up and the service is amazing I liked the food can’t say much about the ambience literally couldn’t see much. I am not a fan of dark places but some people might like it, I already wear glasses so it was a bit of a struggle. Wouldn’t recommend for a first date unless you are really shy. I didn’t realize phones weren’t allowed until I left and saw the signage oops. One male bathroom and one female bathroom only, so if someone is in that’s it you have to wait!…I like to see what I’m eating so I had to put on my phone touch so that was a bit inconveniencing. I don’t think I’ll be going back but I’ll definitely order!

Buy from them at your own risk. The worst food company I’ve ever worked with.
I ordered a package to be delivered 9am on the 14th of Feb… They didn’t deliver, I called a number of times, they didn’t pick. Neither did they respond to my messages.
I sent them messages on Instagram, they ignored every message and kept posting on Instagram. I even had to tell them that if there was a problem, they could communicate. No response from them.
Until the 15th, they sent a message saying they scheduled my delivery for the next day (16th), and they would send a pack of Coca-Cola and shawarma to apologize.
They totally ruined my plans, were unapologetic, and I wouldn’t be buying from them again.
Good food, quiet place although there’s no space for so many customers at once. But in all I enjoyed my food 😊 I ordered the Ogbunike fried rice with turkey, salad and diced plantains

Finally, I visited the popular Darkroom by Yellowplate. I mean, I have ordered from Yellowplate a couple of times before but I have never really visited/dined at Darkroom (their physical space).
Before I got there, I had seen a couple of comments about the car parking being an issue but I didn’t really have any challenges parking. I would, however, advise that if you can, use a Taxi to the place. The staff were (for the most part) very polite and professional. I loved how everyone (staff) was particular enough to make sure we were having a great dining experience. The waiter (that served us) seemed new as she was a bit unsure about the menu and had to go back to the kitchen a number of times to get answers to our questions. When we were leaving, she asked “Anything for the weekend”; I mean I understand that tipping is very important but I think it’s unprofessional for a waiter to ask (especially in that manner).
Moving on, we ordered the Asun Jollof Rice (7000), Shrimps Alfredo Pasta (8500), and the Prawn Mayo (4500). The portions are RIDICULOUS (in a good way)! I NEVER takeaway food (leftovers) at a restaurant cause whatever is left is never enough to takeaway. I went to Darkroom hungry and I still couldn’t finish the food! I remained more than half of that Asun Jollof Rice. Asides from the quantity, the food is AWESOME! For the Asun Jollof, I loved the spice, taste and, yes, it was smoky! My friend didn’t love it though so maybe it’s just me 🤷🏾♂️. Personally, I hate creamy pasta and seafood BUT when I tasted that Shrimp Alfredo Pasta, I wanted to finish it! It was veryyy good - I can’t describe it. You need to taste it for yourself please 🤤
The Asun Jollof comes with Plantain, Asun (A LOT) and Coleslaw. The Alfredo Pasta had about four MASSIVE Prawns and was very very creamy 👀.
I have been a regular of Yellow plate for some time now and their meals are a hit back to back. My last visit was on October first during the promo and it was totally worth it. I got the fried rice with Korean style turkey, jollof rice with peppered turkey, both bowls of rice came with a side dish of plantain and salad and shawarma and I got a free box of dominos pizza and three milkshakes.

OK before I talk about the food, let's talk about their containers! ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE, looks like a kids lunch box or something with the spoon and fork in the cover, very convenient, definitely not going to be thrown out in a Nigerian home.
OK the food well I've ordered just one thing from them the native rice with Boiled egg, fish, either shrimps/prawns ahh seafood sha, small pieces of diced beef and pomo and it was really really nice.
Prices are more on the high side tbh but its worth it with the cute package and all.

By far one of my favorite places to get food in Abuja!!!
The food is always amazing but delivery can be a little slow.
Portions are very large, though prices might be a bit on the high side. I promise it’s worth it.
This is one place you must visit if you’re in Abuja.
