During our expedition to Serra do Paul in Madeira, we had the opportunity to traverse the breathtaking mountainous landscape. Amidst this remarkable journey, we made a stop at the renowned "Cozinha a Lenha" restaurant, which left an indelible impression on us.
The establishment's ambiance and service were truly commendable, contributing to a memorable dining experience. We relished the flavorsome Poncha, a delightful traditional beverage, while savoring delectable meat and chicken pinchos prepared to perfection.
Furthermore, the chilly weather added a pleasant touch to the overall experience, making it an ideal recommendation for those seeking an exquisite culinary and scenic escape.

Grilled Chicken Salad
We finished the Levada do Paul hike and had lunch here. There were a few tables outside in the shade but they were either occupied by taxi/bus drivers or reserved so we went inside. We just wanted a coffee and snack but all tables were set for lunch. The lunch was good and the pricing OK. We didn't know that the chicken on the skewer came with bones but it was tasty. The chicken breast on the salad was not fully cooked but was immediately taken back and grilled until done. Overall an average experience. They accept credit cards and you have to pay at the register at the entrance.
Came here during an organized tour, so this wasn't really a choice, and I probably wouldn't go here again. Had the beef skewer, which probably was the worst beef skewer I've had on the island so far. The meat had a very odd taste to it, almost as if it was cured. Despite not being overcooked, it was very rubbery. Poncha was decent.

Great place for a meal on the way back from 25 fontes/Risco trails or Fanal forest. Super friendly staff, nice bites, well located in the middle between 25 Fontes/Risco and Fanal forest.

We really love this restaurant!
We had lunch here 3 times in 9 days and you must taste their lapas with traditional bread and garlic!
The staff is so kind and cool, we’re going to miss them ❤️
Can't say too much about the environment as we had lunch outside under a tent (promptly provided by the personnel to shelter us from the hot sun). The most important thing here is food: surprisingly delicious, high-quality and well served. My suggestion: opt for the local dishes, such as regional steak and bolo do caco.

very nice service, but the food is tasteless and much more expensive than other restaurants, you have to pay extra for each addition, for example. the meat itself was more expensive or the whole dish in the center of Funchal.
