It had been many years since my last visit to Carrabba's Italian Grill (this time in Surprise, AZ), but I've always remembered it as a solid dining choice. Not spectacular, but reliably good. I appreciated the convenience of being able to place my name on a wait-list via their website, which is a real plus during busy times. Despite it being a bustling Friday night this time of year, I was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant only half full. Upon arrival, the service was quick to impress. Our server greeted us immediately, efficiently taking our drink orders and soon after, our meal choices. Her friendliness and attentive nature made for a welcoming atmosphere. Throughout the dining experience, we were frequently checked on by what appeared to be managers, asking about our meal. While the intention was appreciated, it felt slightly excessive after a while. The complimentary bread served with signature herbs and olive oil was pretty disappointing. The herbs and oil were good, but the bread was really low quality. Our meals arrived in a timely manner - I opted for the Mahi Wulfe and my guest chose the Chicken Bryan. Both dishes were adequately prepared, yet they didn't leave a memorable impact. Specifically, the garlic rosemary fries alongside my dish lacked the expected rosemary flavor, presenting an overpowering raw garlic taste which I personally do not favor. In reflection, our visit to Carrabba's was just average. Despite the commendable service and the ease of avoiding wait times, the food did not stand out amidst a sea of dining options. Given the variety available, it's unlikely I'll prioritize a return visit. Carrabba's remains a decent choice for those seeking a straightforward meal, but for those in search of culinary excitement, it may be wise to explore elsewhere. Gavin, did well as our server. Carol the manager was on top of the fast turnover of tables. All the servers worked well to cover the full house. The calimari was excellent. Went here for the first time last night. Was less than a 5 min wait, the restaurant was decorated nicely for the holidays, all the staff we interacted with were friendly. Jennifer was our server and was just wonderful, she was very sweet and provided great service. We tried a few seasonal items and a few on the main menu. Everything was absolutely delish! Perfect timing between apps, salad and entrees. We will definitely come here again. Update below... 1st experience: Kelsey was our waitress and what a pleasant surprise to actually have a waitress that is very good at their job. She was attentive and provided updates. Her frequency to the table was spot on. She was patient and informative. First time at this Carrabba's and it certainly will not be the last because of her. I'll also mention that the cocktail prices are very decent. Overall it was a great experience. UPDATE: Went back 1.10.23. Had a waitress named Jessica. Horrible! Bad service. Didn't know the first thing about service, communication, menu, expediency, or any welcoming skills. Food was delivered with waitress offering No hospitality or even grated cheese. Waited forever for a cocktail. No bread. Water depleted without service in sight. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and I fought to go there. Embarrassing to say the least. Spend your money elsewhere. The service at this location is phenomenal. We had several servers bring something to our table to help our little one without us even asking. As I watched them interact with other tables, it was clear that is the standard of service. I was very impressed. It reminded me what great service looks like and feels like! Thank you! Between the two of us we had Lasagna, Spaghetti and the chicken soup. It also comes with bread and olive oil. The Lasagna was not bad, but there was very little meat, which seems to be a theme. The soup had some shreds of chicken, but was a decent size and definitely had some spice to it. The Spaghetti was bland, and little meat. All in all for the price (50$) it was just not worth it. We came here on Tuesday for my husband and son's birthday. We had 11 people. First and foremost, the food was absolutely amazing. However, our waitress was anything but. She seemed to be way over her head. She was grumpy and short with us. She very rarely returned to fill drinks. When we asked another waitress if she could fill a drink. She got extremely Irritated and said, "did you ask your waitress?" Well we would have if she ever came around. Then there was a point where we needed more oil for the bread. again. She was nowhere to be found. So my son who was sitting right next to the oil grabbed it and put some on a plate... At that point, Our waitress had come out of who knows where.. And was like well I could have done that. Again, I'm sure you could have but you never even come check on our table. We have been coming to carrabba's for years... And honestly, this was some of the worst service we have ever had at this location. Food was appetizers. Some were quite good. Pass on the Truffle Fettuccine - dry, no sauce, tasteless. No truffle flavor at all. Chris, the bartender, was great, as were the rest if the staff. We ate at the bar. Decorated nicely for Christmas. Have been going here since it opened 15-16 years ago. And will continue to do so! Give it a try. Sunday is happy hour all day! My first visit to Carrabba's here in AZ. Since we moved to AZ from MN in 2018 we have gone out to the local spots to enjoy diffeent foods. I love Veal Parmesan but have not been able to find it anywhere. SO yeaterday on my 71st birthday I got to pick the place and this is where I choose. The two people who were on the welcome desk were good, while one person went to check for an open booth the other made small talk. How were we, how's things going etc: She came back and took us to our seats. Next, a friendly young lady brought us some very good bread and Olive oil for dipping. The wait staff stopped by to get our drink order, I believe he said your drink? He came back with drinks, I said we needed a few minutes and he walked away. I said to my wife he doesn't look like he is having a good day! He didn't smile once. He took our dinner choice and managed to speak no more than ten words. Never stopped by to see how we liked our meal or how we doing nothing! He managed to speak to the other three tables around us. That's how I know he worked there for over fourteen years. Must have been fourteen grumpy years. While doing the check my wife asked him if he was having a tough day. He looked at her and walked away. No response. His attitude left us with the feeling that we were bothering him. He never said thank you or come back again. I really wanted to like the place. It's close to home and has the dinner I really wanted. Too bad I felt unwanted, and gave me no reason to come back. I still have a $50.00 gift card to use. maybe carry-out. No tip is needed.
