Had the Scampi on avocado! Too much cocktail sauce for my taste, so you could‘nt enjoy the fruit itself. One scampi was black and probably not good anymore…

Tried the scabbard fish with banana and passionfruit sauce - it was tasty but you can get the same or better for a much lower price elsewhere.

I rarely have the need or desire to write a particularly bad review, but after my experience at this cafe, I'd like to share it.
I ordered the sardine bruschetta (€10) and was really looking forward to it, that was until it arrived! The plate comprised a slice of bread cut into 3 pieces, barely toasted (floppy/soggy), with whole sardines on top (likely out of a tin); and then smothered in copious amounts of prawn cocktail sauce, and not a chopped tomato to be seen!!! "This is how we make it here" was the curt response when I politely complained to the young girl waitress after I demonstrated a common theme having Googled the menu description. What must've been the owner was then very rude when I suggested adjusting the bill! After some fruitless discussion, she said, "Your bill is paid. Have a good day."
To conclude this poor customer management experience, I paid for the drinks and my partner's toasted sandwich, made ironically with the same sliced bread!

I went there early morning because there was a girl outside saying "come inside and have breakfast". I asked for a latte and a toast. Got the latte straight away but after 20min the toast was nowhere to be seen. I complained and they told me the kitchen was still closed so it would take 5min more. It was a waste of time and money. Super expensive and bad service!

Shockingly high prices, double what we expected. Surly service. Would not accept credit card at all. We had a 9+ euro bill. Had to go to nearby cash machine where we were charged terrible exchange rate. Ended up costing us in real terms about £15 for 40 ml beer and a glass of tonic water. Someone is ripping us off , either the staff on duty or the manager.

Surly service from a young lady who clearly doesn't have much time for tourists, Never felt so unwelcome in my life.
Also the bill was double what I would've expected, make of that what you will.
Plenty of other places to eat and drink, I'd suggest you spend your money in one of them.
Small beer in modest cafe with a scowl and grumpiness for 4€? Everywhere else on Madeira fabulous but you ruined my visit by ripping us off. Hope it chokes you.
