Following the good reputation that precedes the Cafe, in particular it’s famous Apple Crumble, we stopped here twice, on our way to Sossusvlei, and back. Basically it’s a kind of “must stop” since far and wide there’s nothing else to refuel, get your tires checked and, yes, grab a decent coffee and an Apple Crumble. The location is kinda oasis in the desert, picturesque by its abandoned old car wracks, and the staff is entirely friendly and helpful. The Apple Crumble might have seen better times, however it’s definitely worth a stop. Hosts a nice gift shop as well.

Excellent place. Highly recommended of you're in the area and need a meal. We came in around 11am and were served an early lunch with friendly service.

The food is good, vegetarian options are available. The service was very friendly and attentive. The prices are ok, lodge standard.
You can order the famous apple pie here, they get it from the bakery next door. So you don't need to change the location if you came for the pie and are hungry, too.

Lovely Restaurant and Café for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner - and of course to enjoy or take away the famous McGregor Apple Pie. But most importantly the crew of Café Van Der Lee is super friendly and helpful. They also can manage a visit of the Cheetah Sanctuary or recommend the best spot for a sundowner. So with that and it's Camp Sites and Lodges, Solitaire is worth an overnight stay.

A good place to stop for coffee and cake. A welcome respite from the emptiness of the surrounding Namib-Naukluft National Park. If you are driving to Walvis Bay/Swakopmund from here there isn't much else around and it's a long journey.
Very friendly service, food mostly burger, toasties or sausages with fries. You can sit nicely in the shade. Apple pie a bit overrated in my opinion, quite dry cake and too many apples... But overall a good place for a stop.
