It's a bit of a Dive, but it adds to the vibe. Pity The menu (on the black board - no actual menus) was limited, and They were out of hake, but the calamari combo's we had was delicious. The chips were crazy good. Small venue with nice harbour views. Service lacked, and there was a bit of a fenzy because they were short staffed today, but the wait was bearable. In peak season I recommend you make a reservation due to the limited tables. Will recommend it. Great location in the harbour overlooking the ocean and river mouth. We went for lunch in January, knowing that it is still season I expected slow service, but this was a whole different experience. The restaurant was under staffed for the day. We enjoyed a bottle of wine while we waited for the calamari. Unfortunately the calamari was over cooked, but they did replace it with better prepared calamari which was very enjoyable. This is a rustic venue, so don't be in a rush. Sit and enjoy the view. I think it is best to visit out of season when the staff are able to handle the amount of guests. My husband and I fell from their wet stairs , me with my 2 month old grandson and my husband with our 2 year old grandson , by the grace of God the baby's wasn't injured , my husband broke his leg, the fracrure is so severe that he needs surgery. The skid-resistant material on the stairs is worn-out and very slippery, ther is no signs to indicate the dangers or anything ! what is so sad is that, not one of the managers , servers or hosts came out to assist us or even see if we are okay although a customer ran to our aid alongside my brother and my son in law. The next day, when my brother and I went back to talk to the owner of the restaurant , the manager laughed and make a joke out of the incident , the owner refused to talk to us and a server informed us that he fell from the stairs as well that specific morning prior to our visit..we were on vacation at the time of the incident so what is worse is that my husband have to wait for surgery for almost 7days because of swelling and have to bear a lot of pain ,the owner of the restaurant Chris Barnard is just ignoring our calls and messages they refuse to give us any information or a email address of the owner This place is a BIG NO NO i will never go back there Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

One of the best seafood platters I have ever had in South Afrika came back the next day again .The venue is rustic but setting is great in the old Harbour. Enjoyed the view and drinks and did not get constantly harrased by waiters. Don't be in an hurry and come slow down and enjoy the seafood. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What a unique experience. Food was delicious! The atmosphere was different but we had lots of laughter. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 250–300 Recommended dishes Seafood Platter for Two
Look past the rustic appearance and you will get a pleasant surprise. Host keeps you informed of progress and the limited wine list was great. Good grub with a home feel.
Best fish dish I have had in a very long time. The hake and calamari was as fresh as can be (we literally saw the boats come in with the freshly caught fish) 5 stars well deserved Service Dine in Meal type Dinner
Party of 5 on April 3rd, 2022. My husband, our 2 teenagers and my 73 year old dad. The view will be hard to beat, as it’s within walking distance from the beach, so you have a 270 degree sea view . The decor is very rustic, with whale bones and such displayed on the walls. The seafood is fresh , the white wine limited to Miss Lucy at R220 per bottle, and Groot Phesentekraal at R150 per bottle. There’s other alcoholic beverages available as well, but I really enjoyed Miss Lucy, a light and crispy, fruity white which paired well with our seafood platter for 2. My teenagers were a bit disappointed at the lack of milkshakes, but settled after ordering some soft drinks. There’s ample parking and booking is recommended during the school holidays. Our waiter, Albert, was really on the ball and provided efficient and professional service with a smile. All in all, I will definitely recommend the Anchor Restaurant for an amazing fresh seafood experience.
We were there last week. Very average food, wilted salad, slow service. We don't normally write reviews, but what made us sick was the owner Christiaan who is so vulgar and rude. Treats his staff terribly, swears and talks bad about people who are not there. The place could use a clean, too. We won't go back there. Place is dirty. There’s only 1 person to assist each side. I ordered hake and chips, the chips were cold and oily, the batter of the fish wasn’t crispy like normal fish would be, it was soggy. It was a complete disappointment. I took a takeaway and fed a homeless person. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 200–250 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
