Husband and I popped in before a show at Second City- he had a Whiskey sour and I had an Aperol Spritz. Mine was good, standard- his was wonderful. Price point is very fair, and service friendly. Place was mostly empty despite it being almost show hour, but employees still seemed a bit harried. Price per person $10–20 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
I popped in before an 8pm show for a drink and some food. I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the cheese plate with all three cheeses and it does not disappoint. The crusty bread and mustard and jam combo is excellent. The atmosphere is dark and calm. Like a hidden speak easy/prohibition bar without all the smoke. There are many signature cocktails. I had the Basil Gimlet and it was particularly tasty. Very close proximity to the ETC Theater at Second City so you can easily wrap up your check and make your way into the theater for a fun night of improv and sketch comedy.

We had a good meal with drinks before the show.
Good pub food (loved the caramelized Brussels sprouts) and great service. Perfect for a bite before a show at Second City.
First, I will say that the wait staff was awesome. Our waitress was hilarious and helpful. My friends and I visited on Tuesday, so it taco Tuesday. We did not have tacos but has margaritas which were reminiscent of my college days. Just tequila with a margarita mix. Not what I expected. In addition, the pretzel twist was rubbery so it must have just come out the microwave. Although my meal could have been better, my friend had the barbecue cauliflower which she loved. Overall the ambience and staff where great, the food could have been better.
My brother and I went to 1959 last night before seeing a Red Line Runs Through It, and holy hell was it good. I got the cauliflower tacos and french fries, and that was the first time I've eaten at nice restaurant not regretted being a vegetarian. My meal was absolutely incredible. He ate the secret menu item, the burger and fries. He kept whispering lovingly into the burger, which weirded me out, but I think it meant he really liked it. He also got an old fashion from the bar and he said it was the best one he's ever had. The atmosphere and music selection was dope. My brother kept talking about shaking the hand of the person who made the playlist. Anyway, I adore this place and will be bringing more people back.
The staff is super friendly and wants to make sure you have a good experience. The food was all great, but especially the pretzel we got as an appetizer and the drinks. Their Old Fashioned is extremely strong, but good.

Great beer selection and delicious bar eats located near a famous comedy club. I visited Up Comedy Club to see a Second City show and then swung by here afterwards for drinks and a snack. I had their fries during the show, which come loaded with herbs and cheese and cooked in beef fat, and were divine. Then I finished with their chicken strips, which managed to be crispy and firm without being overly greasy, topped with pepper and served with ranch. I was impressed by their local beer selection, which featured about 5-7 brews from the Illinois area. Would recommend for late night drinks and bar food.

Went to the bar before a show. The ambiance was nice, good for a date. There are board games and a decent drink selection. I did not get to try the food due to limited time on my part. What really burned my biscuits was that I ordered a whiskey on the rocks and got charged for the whiskey and a separate charge for rocks. Who charges $2 for ice? My suggestion: don't get ice.
