Trattoria Roma in Shelton is a hidden gem! The owner, Carlo, is a first-generation Italian-American whose family hails from Rome. His cooking is straight from his Roman heritage and is absolutely delightful. The menu offers a wide variety of Italian dishes, including meat sauce with ravioli or stuffed shells, veal parmesan, gnocchi pasta, shrimp scampi, pizza, eggplant parmigiana, and more. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is always friendly. They even have a Tuesday night takeout special for chicken parmigiana. The antipasto salad is also a must try - it's mixed greens with prosciutto, salami, roasted peppers, artichokes, and a variety of cheeses. Trattoria Roma is the perfect spot for a cozy dinner or a takeout meal. Highly recommend!
