I've been coming to Six Star Family Restaurant for a long time it's just in the recent past year that I believe the food is gone downhill especially when I got two dinners to go today and they were hot meatloaf sandwich with mixed vegetables mashed potatoes and a hot turkey sandwich with mixed vegetables mashed potatoes they were absolutely terrible the vegetables were hard the meat for the meatloaf was like a flat piece of leather in the turkey was super dried it was on white Wonder Bread with canned gravy I can tell because I am a good cook and I know canned food and box food from home cooked food they used to have really good home-cooked food but not anymore I was going to take it back but I don't like to do that the price we pay nowadays for food I think we should get good quality damn food. a week prior the meatloaf was really super thick on thick French bread toasted and the vegetables were great this was definitely a turn off and that's all it took to break the straw on the camel's back I will not be returning after being a long time 15 year customer that was discouraging, and I get carryout at least once to twice a week. Needed to pick up a quick bite when returning home after a live show downtown, and there aren't many places open after midnight anymore! This one was, and the food was great. The large grilled chicken salad is a standout for me, loaded with fresh lettuce, delicious chicken, crisp tomatoes, and plenty of cheese. My companions loved the coney and patty melt. Turkey dinner was covered in a gel they called gravy, mashed potatoes weren’t fresh and tasted like frost bit vegetables, vegetables were mushy. Everything very bland tasting. I had like 4 bites and sent it back. Service at the table and at the register never asked how things were, so when I told them it wasn’t good it was no surprise they didn’t care. I came for breakfast for the first time and wow I had never seen a harder slice of bacon in my life. Would recommend sausage over bacon coming here. French toast was yummy and eggs were average. After my meal today I had to change my rating. It is disappointing because this was one of my absolute favorite places to eat. I got a chicken wrap today and the lettuce was brown and soggy....it looked like it was way past expiration date. My tomatoes tasted old. I alerted the waitress (I'm not sure why she served it to begin with....it was that bad.). She didn't seem concerned. She offered to get me a new one but at that point I was so grossed out that I was not hungry. I paid the bill and left. I don't think I'll be back again. This place is very inconsistent. It's been pretty good and pretty avg. Staff is nice maybe needs more workers... update: got a piece of plastic in a salad, they were suspicious that i may have placed it in there but did comp the partially eaten salad. A family experience with some of the best home cooked meals around! It's a family experience because they make you feel like family. Always a great meal. Always great service. Always great pricing. My dad, Al, went here for years for most of his meals and we intend to carry on that tradition. I would give it SIX STARS here, or more. The limit in the review is five so they get the highest! Food was definitely not worth what was paid and an apology would have been appreciated after two of my party left the table disgusted and sick!!I mean seriously how do put two plates of the same meal next to each other on the table and not realize that. Like the one shown in the picture on the left it was cold, watered down and simply looked like something you would see coming out of a dumpster. Every other restaurant in the area was packed and had waits of an hour or more. We called Six Star, and they had no wait, so we drove there. We were seated with no wait, as informed on our call with them. The decor is modern and was clean. Staff greeted us at the door and were very cordial. I ordered the Saturday special (surf and turf), and my wife ordered the fried chicken dinner. We both ordered salads with ranch and honey mustard. The honey mustard was home-made with miracle whip or mayonnaise and was terrible. I re-ordered ranch instead. The 10 oz. NY steak and shrimp (3) looked good and came with a choice of potato, soup or salad, vegetable, and bread basket with seasame bread sticks. Steak was cooked as ordered and was good. The steak knives are very flimsy and could be replaced with a better knife. Some of the peas (peas and carrots) seemed undercooked and were firm and crunchy. My wife stated her meal was good, but the breading on the chicken seemed bland to the taste. This could be just an individual taste experience. Service to the table was better than expected. I ordered the Slim Jim and my lady had the pancakes with ham, bacon, and hashbrowns. The food was very good, and fresh. Our service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. We will absolutely return in the future. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
