We came here for our valentine's dinner on the day before Valentine's day. Definitely need to reserve before going. Ambience is great as always. Service could be better, there were no pleasantries, was hard to catch hold of a waiter and the dishes took forever to come. This time we tried the tandoori chicken bomba, paneer pinwheel with some naans. The Bomba was interesting and the paneer pinwheel was amazing. You can definitely come here for a special occasion as it is on the pricier side. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5
The food was ok at best, the chili prawns were too rubbery and another plate was too hard to even cut and we showed it to the server. The garlic Naan was basic and you have to pay 3$ for chutney after ordering appetizers worth at least 15-20$. The service was pretty good and the ambiance was nice but wouldn't go back. This was an interesting Indian food experience and unlike the typical ones I have. The small plates and starters were good and interesting and the drink menu also have unique and interesting options. We ordered the Pistachio ChickenCurry and I had high hopes and it was ok, decent flavor but not out of this world. Again, they aren’t looking to fill your typical Indian food experience so trying to compare this to something I’ve had is difficult. Our guests who were vegetarian (and Indian) really enjoyed all the unique starter plate options. Big let down. Spicy food for no reason. Not flavorful though nicely presented. The wheat roti was anything but. All maida. Meh. The paneer roll wasn't quite cooked well. The pinwheel was so much gravy and more heat. Papad chutneys were the highlight and the tres leches dessert. The rest was forgetful. Skip this place. NOT AN EVERYDAY RESTAURANTS 1. Service is really good 2. Order more of small plates. They are more delicious. 3. Paneer chilli rool was really good. Bire pakora was nice as well. 4. Large plate is okish. Not out of world. We ordered lauki kofta and chaap. > Chaap is - 5/5 > Lauki cofta was 2/5 - gravy was very flatt. 5. We were party of 2 and end up spending $170. PS: I am jot sure if they adjust spice level, but ideally they should ask for spice level as part of order, atleast for large plates. Unless they are serving frozen premake stuff. Rooh Palo Alto, CA Great place to visit on special occasions. Certainly not an everyday restaurant. Food tasted great!!! The small plates is probably a better choice. Order more of those. The large plates, were true to their nature large in size but the quantity of food was disappointing!!! I certainly would recommend the place as a must try. We spent over $350 for a party of 5. So it is expensive. I would expect a restaurant charging such exorbitant prices would keep their bathrooms clean. It was a disappointment!! I took a photo but would not post it here. It would be an insult to the food. The least one should expect is a clean Looh! @ Rooh!! I decided to visit them again after COVID years and it turned out to be mixed bag. I have been to this place few years ago and it was good experience. Service was good but the food/drinks experience was not worth the drive and the price. We were welcomed well and given good time to settle. Service staff is courteous. Staff should resist making remarks like "are you always this serious?". I understand that their intentions are not mean but it can be off putting some times. Now drinks... I ordered couple of cocktails from menu and they were both not available. I decided to go for beer as it does not make sense to go thru 2 dozens drinks in menu twice, only to know that they are not available. They should tell upfront if some menu items are not available. Food was mostly good except the garlic naan and the lamb chops. Garlic naan edges were COLD and it made me believe that it was not at all fresh. It was either frozen stuff or reheated item. Lamb chop tasted good but was very chewy. Me and my kids struggled to work it with knife. I doubted its freshness too. Even the well done lamb chop can't be this chewy if it was fresh meat. Anyways, I hope I remember this experience of mine as I definitely did not feel satisfied after spending $100/person. AVOID this restaurant!! We went back to Rooh Palo Alto after nearly 4 years(we had amazingly good experiences back then) as my family loved Rooh Chicago and Rooh SF recently . Rooh Palo Alto is a shame to the brand . Fails to deliver the fine dining experience. Since we had outdoor seating reservation at 7pm(weeknight post Christmas), the host seated us at a dingy table where there was no lighting .No ambiance , no blankets provided and we had to bear the cold rain inspite of the heater above us .Restaurant was almost vacant inside .But the host was not very accommodating. Food is overpriced and overhyped . Doesn’t deserve any stars . We used our cell phone flash light to see what was being served . The portions were barely anything for the $$$ charged . After shelling out 90$ on finger foods, we had to go to another restaurant to eat main course dinner (which was the best decision). Do not recommend this Rooh location. Hope the owners take time to read reviews. Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1

The best Indian food I’ve had! It’s not just delicious, it’s looks absolutely beautiful. Every dish is so much thought through. It has so many levels and elements of flavour and textures, it’s delightful. I highly recommend their Brie Pakora, it was one of the most beautiful looking dishes I’ve ever had and the flavours with beets and apricots is just top notch. Their drinks are also extraordinary, I had a Ratnagiri and the mango flavour was so natural and the drink was just amazing. I’m coming back to try more food!
