What a hidden gem! Great diner for breakfast in Royal Oak area. Banana Pecan Waffle was amazing. The candied pecans made a big difference. We also had Corned Beef Hash, pancakes, bacon, plus much more. Portions are huge. You cannot walk away hungry. Hot, fresh coffee, and excellent, friendly service. We can see why the Oak Diner is so poplar. DoorDash delivers! Nostalgic setting, loved the decor. Daily specials and loved the joke of the day board. Counter sitting or dining area. Will be back to try lunch one day.

Meat Lovers Skillet
I have eaten here at least 3-4 times and it has been good. Chicken and waffles, pancakes, eggs, but this time I wanted to play it safe. I have to admit, I went with the intention of ordering a rather basic meal on purpose. Sometimes I don’t want to flash of cliche breakfast specials like, a “breakfast quesadilla”. Sometimes I just want a plain breakfast. What may seem like a simple request, it’s important to remember that eggs be it scrambled or runny can go from good to bad in a moments notice. I know this because I make fantastics eggs at home in all styles. Everything from the French scrambled egg to an over medium, soft boiled and so on. I ordered the Country Breakfast. This is right at the top of the menu. Almost calling out that it is the point of admission to the Oak Diner. The gate in which you must pass in order to dig into all house specialties. Biscuits and gravy were as expected. Nothing really to point out or noteworthy. The rest of the meal is where I find issues. The ham is seared on a flat top or pan. Looks good, nice color. I take a bite, and overwhelming amounts of salt. All I think is salt lick. I move on to the scrambled eggs, overcooked. Terrible flavor, with the almost a stink of overcooked egg. Covered it in hot sauce and still couldn’t eat them. These scrambled eggs were left way too long in the pan. Hashbrowns, underseasoned, flavorless, boring. They came out cooked but between the salt on the ham we could have used some on these hashbrowns. I’m at a loss here, it wasn’t busy. It was a Thursday at 9:30-10 am. This one left me disappointed. Not sure if it was an off day or a different cook but this was not good. Sad, because I really did like my previous visits and meals. That’s why I’m leaving this review with 2 stars otherwise it would get only one.

This was the first time my husband and I stopped in. We were able to customize order food to perfection. The service and pancakes were top tier.
Update: came back within a week. My husband loves that the biscuits are toasted and then the sausage is added on top. I tried the bacon burrito 🌯 for the first time with chipotle crema and sour cream. We brought 2 of daughters this time and they loved it as well.

Met my long time friend for breakfast to catch up. Found this restaurant on maps and enjoyed it! So many great selections of breakfast. Coffee was good. Food was delicious. Staff was very friendly and let us sit together for awhile. We will definitely be back next time we are in the neighborhood.

TLDR : Quick wait times, insanely clean establishment, amazing meals, PLEASE COME HERE!!!
Establishment is well taken care of with insanely clean restaurant facilities. Bathrooms are well maintained with countertops that are never smudged. Same goes with their utensils. They are handed to you in a paper wrapping, which to me, is much better than getting them wrapped in a napkin.
The waif staff is always attentive and helpful. Always looking forward to hear you out even when they are constantly packed you’ll still get the perfect amount of time.
The food is always spot on and never misses a mark. I got the apple cinnamon waffle was to die for - as a season special, you need to get it before it’s gone! I always opt out of the hash browns for the tater tots because they are always crispy!!

Really small cute friendly vibes place. Food is basic. Which isn't bad .it was busy but service was fast and great! The only thing is we had the table by the door and the drafttt babyyy lol was the only complaint. Other then that I'd definitely recommend and come again :)

What they say is true. Small place with big flavor. Everything was delicious. My hubs love the southern waffle. The breading on the chicken was crispy. The chicken itself was juicy and savory. My only wish was that the food was hotter. The gravy was not very warm. I would have preferred steaming hot. Tater tots were a nice crispy breakfast treat. I did not finish my food. I had enough left for the day. I had to convince my husband not to lick his plate. 🙄
It's a small place but ample parking.

Quality of food was okay, coffee watery, if into that. However service was great. Children friendly space, easy parking, a great option of food choices. Has a children's menu. Overall clean space. Benedict was okay. Had an overload of hollandaise sauce. Appreciated the fresh ingredients.

Really good food here. Very small restaurant but we didn’t have to wait too long for a table even on a Saturday morning. The lemon blueberry pancakes were delicious and service was great. Breakfast skillets coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. Highly recommend.

Even on a busy Saturday we got a table quickly and the food service was fast and tasted amazing! We have been here a few times and the taste of the food keeps us coming back for more! Definitely a hidden gem in Royal Oak!
