Showed up as a group of 8 for a bachelor party. They were very accommodating and were able to sit us in about 20 minutes. The waiter was polite and conversational, great recommendations and good food. The cheese curds taste like a Wisconsin staple and the steak was delicious. 10/10 would recommend this restaurant. This place definitely lived up to the hype! It is impossible to go to Duluth without going to Grandma's, or at least hearing about it. I've lived in MN my whole life and heard about and seen Grandma's all over but didn't know if it was really that good until we went ourselves. The atmosphere is great. Cozy, homey, and yet energetic as well. The food was amazing! The sauces on our pastas were creamy and delicious. The cheese curds are the best we've ever had! I definitely understand the hype around Grandma's, and we'll be making it a must-visit every time we come to Duluth. We have been to Grandma's a few times through the years. But this is my first review. We had about a 10 minute wait on a Friday night. We sat at the bar and I had a bloody of course! The loaded bloody came with pickled herring and I don't know if it was a green been but that thing was SO SPICY by itself. We ordered the dill cheese curds. They were SO good!! I had the baked mac and cheese and it was very good. It's almost like they use a wild rice soup base for their Mac and cheese. I would find little pieces of carrots and it I could pick up tastes of a chicken pot pie. SO GOOD. My husband ordered a Cajun chicken dish on a bed of wildrice. He describes it as GOOD. LOL! The Godfather Italian beef was delicious, and I could see the Aerial Lift Bridge from our table window while my girlfriend and I anxiously awaited a big ship coming through! Hard to beat the energy at Grandma's Saloon & Grill on Canal Point in the heart of Duluth, MN. Grandma's has a terrific vibe with interesting artifacts everywhere you look. Good food, drinks and friendly staff in a cozy setting make it worth a visit. Seasonal rooftop patio overlooking the lift bridge is always magical. Thank you, Grandma's. Until next time. For me, this is a must stop for dinner every time I head up to Duluth! It's a family tradition for us and just such a cozy and Minnesota vibe. The food is always good and comforting with a midwestern spin on the classics. Cute little gift shop and chocolates in a service case for purchase. My boyfriend and I decided to revisit this place for our anniversary dinner and honestly I was left quite disappointed. The wild rice soup was good but I felt like the portion was small and it was lukewarm/cold. I feel like any soup should be piping hot especially on a cold October evening. The chicken pot pie was decent but it tasted very salty to me and had no crust on the bottom. I was very disappointed at the fish & chips because it was so small and the whole thing was burnt! The fries were burnt and the fish as well as seen on the photo compared to the fries that came with our burger. The fish was so small and it was heavily seasoned with salt. There was barely anything to eat on the fish except for thick, salty and burnt batter. The only thing that was good was the burger. The bill came up to 76 not including tip and I was honestly left still pretty hungry. Everything tasted greasy, heavy and very salty. The food quality and portions have decreased significantly compared to our last visit a few years ago and probably not visiting again anytime soon. Such a fun experience. I’ve always wanted to go to this restaurant and now I can cross it off my bucket list. But I would like to go back again some day. There is so much to see. There is so much history and most of it if not all of it from our state of Minnesota. Seeing some of the displays brings back fond childhood memories. Our food was very good. Our service was very good too. We didn’t have reservations but we’re seated almost immediately. If you are ever in Duluth, stop into Grandma’s and check it out. Really cool place with all kids of eclectic decor. Even more fun is if you can catch a freighter coming into port off of Lake Superior, Grandma’s is right there then sneak in for a bite to eat. The beer selection is good and they have a descent menu. Stopped in for lunch, waited about 10 minutes to get a table but the handy text updates were great! We started with the dill cheese bites that were spectacular! Could’ve had more they were so good! First time eating here (the smell of food from outside pulled us in), sat inside in the ac, loved the decor and atmosphere. Service was great as was the food! Portions were really good, kids loved the fries and the option of ordering half the monte was very much appreciated! Prices were a little high for a family of 5 but with great service, large food portions and quality of food it was definitely worth it! We will definitely be back.
