Fay's is a small local cafe with a variety of food, and a plethora of beverages to choose from. They also serve alcohol as well. It is a very casual cafe that allows you to order your food at the counter and choose your own seating. The establishment also has a small room if you enjoy playing video lottery. The cafe and restrooms have always been clean during my visits. It is an older cafe, but I enjoy the nostalgia.
The employees have been friendly and welcoming when I've visited this cafe. They were patient while we looked over the menu, and helpful with any questions. The food is cooked fresh, and it was delivered to our table promptly and warm. The prices are fair and very reasonable, especially for a freshly cooked hamburger.
I recommend trying one of their burgers. The burgers were juicy and seasoned just right. The fries were also great. They are not as crispy as I prefer, but they appeared to be homemade. The portion size is more than enough for myself, but they are a little smaller than some establishments, so I recommend ordering an extra side if you have a hefty appetite. I cannot give an opinion on their specialty beverages as I've only had the fountain drinks.
Overall, I would recommend Fay's if you're looking for a local business to support. I'm sure there is something on the menu that you'd find enjoyable.

Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries
Absolutely wonderful! If the owner wouldn't have let me know, the burgers were made with their ground meat. I would have known you can definitely tell they are not pre made frozen patty's. They are amazing. I can tell how proud they are of their food as they should be! And the fries amazing what would make them better is peanut oil. I am looking forward to my next visit!

The burgers are great. Hand pressed and flavorful. There is a counter and a seating area for dinner in, but I don't recall ever seeing it used. Video lottery while you wait if you are into that.

Burger and Fries
We have been hearing and reading great things about Fay’s so we decided to try it. The burgers were okay, yet bottom bun was dry. Both onion rings and tots were very dark and tasted like old oil. My mom was surprised to find her BLT on a burger bun, which also made it difficult to tell which was hers without unwrapping everything until we found it. All the food was tepid as well. They also forgot the straw and spoon for moms rootbeer float. All in all it wasn’t bad and we will most likely try them again. They probably just had an off evening.

So, because of all the love and support Fay's Cafe has gotten on my local Facebook page, I wanted to show my support too. My younger brother and I decided to patronize and show our support. <3
Let me start by saying, the construction is ridiculous. It blocks several streets I can see why it's hindering business. I don't work for the city, so I am obviously a layman, but I definitely feel the city could have planned this out better.
That out of the way, Fay's Cafe.. this place is special. Greeted by a very friendly young lady who explained menu items and told us how everything is made from scratch. Fay is a kind woman working very hard in the back. My brother and I had two beef sandwiches on garlic sourdough with an order of onion rings and an order of fried pickles to split.
Fried pickles: Best I've ever had. I was expecting pickle chips, but instead was greeted by these beautiful golden brown spears. Crunchy and dill-y. Dipped in their killer ranch. Brother and I killed those.
Onion rings: On point. 8.5/10. Crispy battered onions. Can't go wrong, will order again.
Beef sandwich: I wasn't sure what to expect, but I went in open minded.. and I'm so happy I did. Beautifully toasted garlic sourdough. Inside, wonderfully seasoned skirt steak and onions cooked amazingly and covered in cheese. The sourdough was so crispy and airy, really complimenting this simple yet elegant sandwich.
All in all, this place is very unique and special. The people are friendly, the prices make sense, and the quality and love is there. Everyone, go to Fay's. It's a bit of a challenge to find a place to park, I had to rally a bit myself, but it's worth it. I really don't want to see this establishment and other local ones like it fail because of something out of their control.

The burgers here are really good. They are kind of small but they are way better than any fast food chain burgers. The fries are also cut and fried up not frozen. The inside of the restaurant is clean and comfy. Plus the prices are excellent. Probably the best fast food restaurant in Albany.
