Had some time to kill before flying back east for a work trip. Came down to Mission Beach since it was close to the airport. Noticed that Draft South Mission had great open views of the ocean so decided to give it a try for dinner. It was pretty windy and cool and after sunset, so I elected to sit indoors. I did grab a spot where I still had views of the ocean through the open garage doors that they have separating the outside and inside seating areas. For a Friday late afternoon/early evening, it was steady but not busy. I ordered the 12 piece wings with the house dry rub. Wings were tasty and the rub was kind of a mix of lemon pepper/old bay. Carrot sticks and ranch and blue cheese accompanied. Service was pretty good. The views were great and I am sure even better when it’s warm and sunny out. They also have upper deck seating with views that overlook the ocean. Although this location is right on the boardwalk and basically beachside, it is not a beach dive. Nice brewery with a decent variety of bar food. Even the bathrooms were very nice and very clean, not what you usually see for a place right on the water. Nestled along Mission Boulevard, Draft Restaurant presents a delightful dining experience set against the backdrop of a picturesque beach view. While the wait was a touch longer than anticipated, the restaurant's inviting atmosphere and the attentive, professional staff set a positive tone for the evening. Our meal commenced with the Truffle Parmesan fries, a delectable indulgence featuring a rich truffle aioli, parsley, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. While the flavors were delightful, a slightly heavy hand with the salt detracted just a bit from the overall experience. For our main courses, we savored the Cerveza Battered Fish and Chips, showcasing local rockfish delicately beer-battered and served with malt vinegar tartar sauce, spicy slaw, grilled lemon, and a generous portion of French fries. The dish was executed well, though the portion size might have left some diners craving a bit more. The Pistachio Crusted Salmon Sandwich, adorned with lemon aioli, a satisfying pistachio crust, arugula, fennel, and a dijon glaze, was a flavorful delight nestled within a brioche bun. The accompanying French fries were a perfect complement to this well-balanced dish. Throughout the meal, the staff's attentiveness and professionalism shone through, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. This is a nice location with beachfront view. Arrived around 2 pm. and was able to be seated right away outside right on the boardwalk. Unfortunately, after having plenty of time to take a look at the menu, there was no server to take our order. We spotted the hostess seating another party and had to ask her for someone to come take our order. This place is a little more pricey for food and beverage, so i had expected service to be quicker especially since it wasnt really that busy. Once we got a server, she was very attentive and got everything going right away. They had a good selection of draft beer. We got a half dozen of the Buffalo wings. It had a spicy kick with good flavor. It's not too hot. I look forward to coming back and having the full dining experience. Next time, I expect that our service will be more jolly on the spot. We went here to enjoy the Christmas setup and specials. Would recommend a reservation since even by 5ish the wait was over 45 minutes, but checking in with a reservation was very fast and easy. The decorations, holiday cocktails, and ambiance are all really fun, and the food was a hit. It is pretty pricey for the cocktails at nearly $20 each, though food prices were pretty average. The pretzelcuterie, Rudolph's replacement, and wagyu lasagna were great. We thought it was worth it for the experience and the great location - there's plenty to do nearby and it's right by the beach as well.
