This was my third time to Cubasi Bistro. The food has been amazing every time. The prices seem high but one person can easily get 2-3 meals out of one serving. The flavors are incredible and the pork melts in your mouth. Everyone in my office enjoys every dish we have had.

Ropa Vieja Arroz Congris
During my road trip to Virginia, I made a stop at Cubasi Bistro to indulge in some Cuban cuisine, a treat I enjoy from time to time. Opted for the ropa vieja, and while it was a decent meal, I noticed a peculiar flavor that's uncommon when I've had this dish elsewhere. Not unpleasant, just a distinct and strong taste.
I'm rating it 4 stars instead of 5 because when inquiring about specific menu options, the staff seemed unaware of certain dishes and their preparations. It's acceptable, but having that information could have influenced my dining choices. Additionally, I'd like to suggest offering smaller portion sizes. My family couldn't finish their plates, and considering the moderately high prices, reducing serving sizes slightly could make it more affordable and reduce the number of people opting for takeout, as was the case for us.

You can't go wrong with the place. The beef milanesa (Cuban equivalent of chicken fried steak) is amazing.

Cubasi Bistro: A Cuban Delight in the DC/Virginia Area
If you're craving Cuban cuisine in the DC/Virginia area, Cubasi Bistro is a must-visit. Their dishes whisked me back to Miami's vibrant Calle 8 with every bite.
What really stands out is the portion size – enormous and well worth the price! Take the Cuban sandwich, for example; it's so generously filled, it could easily satisfy two people. The ropa vieja was perfectly seasoned, striking that hard-to-achieve balance of flavors.
Don't miss out on the maduros and yuca frita – both were delicious, reminding me why these are such beloved sides in Cuban cooking. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting, and the staff's friendly demeanor adds to the overall pleasant experience.
Definitely a gem for Cuban food lovers!

Ordered a variety of food in my group and was delightfully surprised that everything was excellent. And the kids' portions were huge, too!

Sweet Plantains
This is the best Cuban food I have found in the DC area. The portions are great. This trip we got the ham croquettes and a Cuban sandwich to split. The food was flavorful and fresh. My wife commented on how fresh the bread was as well.
I'm leaving 5 stars, but it's probably closer to 4 with how sticky the floor is. You have to peel your feet up as you walk. I'm not sure if it's intentional to prevent slipping, because it's seriously that sticky. I felt like a fly on sticky paper.

Try the media noche! Their staff is friendly and the food is delicious. It takes a bit because it is made from scratch so don't go if you're in a hurry. Totally worth it! My husband makes me bring their sandwiches to Pennsylvania for him. (Where we live, I work down there)

I've wanted to try this place for a long time, and I finally went by today. It did not disappoint, I tried the ropa vieja, cubasi sandwich, and guava pastry. Everything was DELICIOUS!! The service was excellent, I highly recommend.

The Extras, that's where you'll have to wait.
SERVICE:
A bit slow. No one greets you when you arrive.
FOOD: 4 🌟 🤩
The food was very good. I didn't have the experience other reviewers had regarding saltiness. My food, ROPA VIEJA, was almost spot on. Actually, in my case, a tad more of salt would have made the flavors pop more. GO FIGURE!
But if you have high blood pressure, then you will definitely see this as a positive and eat it often. Which I totally recommend!!!
PRICE:
By now, you know me. If it's good food, I don't care about the cost. This place falls in that category.
My dish, meat, black rice, and sweet plantains were $20.00. Portions was decent, not big as other reviewers have stated.
A fried cod fritter was around $10.00. These I LOVE Salty. Just great memories.
BATHROOMS
Need a bit of TLC. But for only 2 people working and running the whole show, the mens bathroom was decent.
PARKING AND LOCATION:
Tons of parking and a very nice area. Next to a Residence Inn.
SUMMARY:
The food was a 4. Some minor details. Where most points lost was in service. With very few people in the restaurant, the people working seemed a bit stressed, in my opinion. And the greeting part when you arrive is a must in any business.
My recommendation, offer a family deal. I totally understand how high prices have affected us after COVID, but I guarantee that if you offer a family dinning experience with a price for children, you will get more business and will be able to hire one more person to help out the already (again, my opinion) wonderful, but stressed-out employees.
