Food was decent. Not terrible, not like wow. The meat wat actually really good, quality wise. Pulled pork had great flavor but the sauce it came with was not good. Didn't enhance the flavor or anything. The brisket sandwich was ok, not the absolute best but ok. What I found really good was the sweet potato fries, those were awesome. The fried Pickles very fresh and crisp, not soggy like some places. Very cool interior. Has a decent size bar. Parking can be a bear but there is a parking garage right behind the restaurant you can go to and walk in thru the back of the restaurant. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Great BBQ place in the middle of downtown on a beautiful street. Everything we had was great. Staff was friendly, service was fast. Would for sure recommend if your feeling BBQ.

I really wanted to try this restaurant and dro out of my way to get to it. I arrived a good 40-45 minutes before closing time. I was promptly (but politely I’ll add) turned away and told that there were no more tables being seated. I thought this was very unusual for a restaurant as casual as a BBQ joint. It might be a good idea to note on Google and on your door that you stop accepting parties 45 minutes before closing! Very disappointing! *Edit: After about 7 months I was back in the area and decided to give Blue Tractor another try based on recommendations from others. I immediately noticed the very intriguing decor and really liked how they put “gears” on the ceiling to go with the tractor theme. I was sat by a fireplace, which was pleasant on a cold January day. The waitress was very polite and personable, but extremely slow! I don’t know if she was simply overworked or what, but the service the entire time was slower than any other BBQ restaurant I have ever been to. I ordered the 2 meat platter and chose brisket (upon the recommendation of the waitress and others) and ribs (against the recommendation of the waitress). When I finally got my food I tried the brisket and it tasted more like a normal beef roast than a smoked BBQ brisket. There was no smoke ring and the flavor/ seasoning seemed pretty bland compared to what I’m used to. Don’t get me wrong, the brisket was alright, but it definitely isn’t the best. I definitely should’ve listened to the waitress about the ribs! They were very tough and fairly dry. The fries and coleslaw were pretty standard. At the end of the day, I didn’t feel like I got a very good value for my over $30 that I spent. It was mediocre BBQ with slow service. I will say that the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is spot on, but the food was just not what everybody made it out to be. I also find it odd that a BBQ restaurant is a “sit down and get waited on” format. That seems to be a Traverse City thing. I have spent time in central Texas and have a lot of experience with good BBQ. No, nothing I’ve had in Michigan is going to be quite as good as Texas, but I’ve been to places near Grand Rapids that are close! We had just arrived in town & were starving. We did a Google search & the reviews & images for this restaurant locked us in. We were seated right away & the server promptly arrived to get drinks & our order. The food came out quickly, too! Portions are generous and we real enjoyed what we had. Hubby got ribs, pulled pork & fries. I got their Mac & cheese with pulled pork. It was so yummy. We would definitely come back here again if we're ever in the area! Apologies on the pics as we dug in before we could remember to take a photo... it was that good... The service was great, definitely a pretty restaurant to eat at. I have had plenty of good Barbie Que in my life in all different parts of the country. This Barbie Que is alright at best. The brisket was dry for my taste and the Mac and cheese was a little on the harder side. It was definitely better later than when it was served. The chicken was pretty good and so was the sweet potato fries. If they stepped up their kitchen they would have it all. This is the BEST food! I am vegetarian and absolutely loved my meal. We were so pleasantly surprised The mushroom burger is the best I have ever had. My meat loving friend even agrees The fries are delicious and thick, the bbq chips are homemade and full of flavor. There are also great sides. I love the mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes were SO GOOD Delicious cocktails! They have a great mule I would love to go back. 5 stars! We stopped in here while on a family vacation. Plenty of options for varying tastes... the "whole hog quesadilla" was a hit with everyone who tried it, and the chest jalapeño dip was so good!
