My family and I enjoy Black Bear for the options. There is something for everyone. Steaks and burgers for the adults and teen. As well as a nice selection of their cub child's menu. It's fun. The food is fresh and fantastic! The plates are large portions and great flavor! I recommend the the burgers, steaks, taco salad, and fish and chips! Had breakfast with 7 cousins. The wait staff was great. Always giving us refills. Food was fresh and hot. We stayed for at least 2 hours and never felt rushed, the place was not packed, so we made sure nobody was waiting for a table. Great friendly service. Love the manager he always makes things rite if something is not up to par. Good atmosphere. Great staff keep up the good work !!! Waffles 🧇 were junk undercooked. The mash potatoes were sour and nasty 🤢🤮🤮 . Really depends on who is the chef the young afternoon chefs really suck. The guys that work the morning shift are the best, they have been there for years. They never have the prime rib, went on two separate occasions and was told they did not have any. 😭😢 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife and I took our two granddaughters there today for lunch and unfortunately the experience wasn't as pleasant as times past. The issues I would like to note are as follows: First of all the children's menu items need to be on a regular sized plate. They're being served on the equivalent of a salad plate and there's just not enough room to eat the meal properly. Placing the one egg over easy on top of the pancakes because there is no other room is just wrong. It's not going to cost you more to wash a regular size plate as opposed to a smaller plate. Next, I've never had a "patty melt" with raw onions before, that is just plain lazy. A patty melt comes with sauteed onions, period. That's what the customer expects 7 days a week. If you can't manage the simple things then at least be truthful in your menu and note, sorry we don't care enough about you to sautee the onions. It was a small over cooked burger with a little cheese and a thick slice of raw onions. I love onions but that's not what I ordered. If it had been a basic cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato it would have all worked together but that's not what I ordered so it was a dry disappointment of a sandwich. Next, my wife's "chicken club sandwich was extremely subpar. It tasted like you used yesterday's chicken breast to make a sandwich. It was unedible and my wife couldn't eat it. Last of all, our server was a young lady who was perfect, but at some point there was three other coworkers in the dining room just having this loud, annoying, conversation in front of us without any consideration to our dining experience. This small town has but a few, decent, restaurants and Black Bear has always been one of them but if I see this become the new standard there then I will happily take my hard earned money elsewhere. This place has practically been an institution in this town and I hope that today's experience was only a bump in the road and that ownership/management takes the wheel and gets it back on track. Good food as usual. I felt the restaurant was a little cold for my liking. Also, I am Hispanic. This time, I ordered what was labeled chicken tortilla soup. Not at all a tortilla soup. Chicken with peas, carrots in a thick tomato soup. No tortilla strips but rather some fried flour crisps. Please remove the title of tortilla soup for this item Deceiving.
