À propos
This bar serves Hawaiian cuisine. You may order good teriyaki chicken, potato salads and cheeseburgers. Tasty passion fruit cheesecakes, pecan pie and French toasts are the best dishes. Here you can drink delicious draft beer, wine or absinthe. Take your chance to taste great americano, milkshakes or smoothies. Children can choose dishes from the kids' menu. Lava Rock Cafe is recommended for the competent staff. The nice service is something these restaurateurs care about. Based on the guests' opinions, prices are adequate. There is a pleasant atmosphere and lovely decor at this place. Google users granted the score of 4 to this spot.

The cake was delicious. However the rest of our food wasn’t very good. Fish wasn’t seasoned well. The coffee was lukewarm and old. We were hungry and it was close to the national park. Service was ok. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
Everything about this place exceeded my expectations! The food was outstanding, each person in my party commented on how much they enjoyed their meal. The service was efficient and all the great art on the walls made for a very pleasant meal-time! I would recommend this place for sure! Even the roaches in the bathroom were exceedingly the most friendly ones on the whole Island! I mean they're everywhere what-re-you-goin-ta-do? My wife and I were at a wonderful B&B to see Volcano National Park and needed to find a convenient place for dinner. We arrived at dinnertime on a Saturday night and were immediately seated by a pleasant hostess. What became apparent quickly was that they were understaffed. After sitting for 15 minutes our waitress came by on the run and took our order. As we watched all the tables that were seated after us get their food the hostess came by and asked if we were ready for our check and she was shocked to hear we were still waiting for our food. We both ordered the grilled mahi dinner and it was cold, not warm, when served so we sent it back. It came back hot and overall we were happy with the quality of the meal. Many others around us seemed pleased with their meals. To her credit our waitress gave us the employee 20% discount on the food as an apparent comp for the wait and having to send the meal back. Dinner choices in Volcano Village are limited so we'd likely go back to Lava Rock Cafe writing off this experience to a staffing shortage. Great experience. Exciting menu with lots of interesting things to try. Had my first Loco Moco and was not disappointed. Our server was pleasant and the prices were decent. All in all an awesome experience. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The Kalua Tacos were superb. The seafood not so much. The shrimp and calamari were disappointing with quite a bit of breading on them. The Mahi Mahi didn’t have much seasoning. The beer on tap was great. Stick with the bbq and you should be fine. I would go back for the bbq. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We were happy to find the cafe for lunch on our way to the volcano forest. They weren’t busy but they only had one waitress so service was a bit slow. I had the mahi tacos which were dry. The fish was good but they needed something extra. My husband had the pulled pork and he didn’t like it. I put my coleslaw on it and that made it much better. I recommend a stop if you are looking for lunch before heading into the park. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Would rate 6/5 if we could! We ate here after a fun day of hiking at Volcano National Park. We started off with Guava BBQ wings and they were absolutely incredible. I had the Big O’ 1/2 Burger and loved it. My wife had the Grilled Mahi Mahi and said it was delicious. We finished with a homemade dessert of rich Chocolate Delish and it was amazing. 10/10 recommend! Go look at the pictures. If they appeal, this is your place. For me? I used to live in US, and was in Hawaii for 2 weeks. I really wanted a burger at a down to earth place. This is, hands down, the worst value meal I can remember in my time in the USA, and the worst meal I've had in a diner or burger joint, ever. Service that swung between inattentive & slightly hostile, dry burger - overpriced, average drinks, in a dive restaurant that seems to exist solely to trap tourists who found everything else in Volcano was closed that night. (This is A Thing. Each restaurant in Volcano appears to close on different nights, with no real pattern). The fries are pretty good, though. Great little place to eat after a day of hiking at the national Park. Had the "Eruption" Burger which is basically a burger with a massive slice of cheese that overflows onto the plate. Ate the fries with all the extra cheese lol. Food isn't the best you'll ever have but for what it is, it's great. I would come here again after hiking around Volcano. Plus there's a gas station and small general store in the same parking lot in case you need anything for the drive home!
