believe the hype about this place. virtue is my favorite restaurant in the city because they simply do not miss! the short rib is sooo tender and flavorful, i’ve yet to try a better one elsewhere. also really love the biscuits, cornbread with honey butter, fried green tomatoes, and the mac and cheese. the cocktail program is incredible too - i’ve tried various seasonal drinks and they’re all well balanced and extremely tasty. the staff are very kind and welcoming. they add to the overall experience of the restaurant because you really feel the southern hospitality. this is a really special place and if you’re thinking about going, this is your sign! We were speechless to say the least while we were partaking in delightful decadence. My table started off with the fried green tomatoes, biscuits, cornbread and gumbo. When I say good it was so good. The cornbread was delicious and the biscuits Oh my one of the best I have tasted and I normally don’t care to much for biscuits. Then for my entree I had the mouthwatering, tender and extremely flavorful short rib over creamed spinach & potato with a side of Mac n’ cheese which I had to take home for ordering more than ai could handle. The table shared the collard greens made with turkey which also exceeded my expectations. We were so satisfied after the starters that we could only eat a few bites of our main course. I had dinner for 2 days from my short rib entree and the food tasted just as good. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the customer service from the front desk to the waiter. Looking forward to dining at your establishment again soon. Highly recommend. Make sure you make a reservation. Several people tried to do a walk in & they were booked even at the bar. Love, Love!!!.. this place. Now being on a diet I had to think about my calorie intake so I ordered the Kale salad and fried green tomatoes as my main course. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE KALE SALAD. Omg, it was amazing. The Italian dressing had a little spice but the candied pecans evened it out. The fried green tomatoes paired perfectly with the shrimp topping. I also had the peach tree fizz and it will sneak up on you but it's worth every drop. I sampled a little corner of the biscuits and its just like grandma's homemade biscuits back in the day. I highly recommend you reserve a table ahead of time as the place is very busy and wait time can be hours even for the bar section. Enjoy!! I have been committed to try southern food!! This is definitely the place to go. I think I am a big fan of this restaurant now. Love the decor and the beautiful plates they have. One of our favorite is the chicken liver. Perfect combination of the chicken liver sauce, bread and some pomegranate!! Large portions may come a little late, so make sure order those in the first place. I wish I could give Virtue 6-stars. What an amazing dining experience. Our waiter, Joe, was not only knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. For food, we had the Fried Green Tomatoes, Kale Salad, Cornbread, Red Fish and Grits, Short Rib, and Mac N Cheese. We finished with the Peanut Butter Pie and Banana Pudding. Yes, it was a ton of food. But treat yourself at Virtue. Easy Top 5 dining experience in Chicago. Virtue Restaurant in Chicago exceeded all expectations with its incredible culinary offerings. From the perfectly seared scallops to the comforting buttered grits, every dish showcased exceptional flavor and quality. The rutabaga was a delightful surprise, adding depth and complexity to the meal, while the biscuits were an absolute indulgence.
