This is a great weekend hang out! Love the staff, great food, stiff drinks and plenty of parking between the front and back lot. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We were a group of 9 adults on a Tuesday night. There was only one server and one bartender, so things got slow once the place filled up. Our server did an amazing job, all things considered, and was very friendly. As a group we had 3 appetizers which were all good. Bar Nuts, Cauliflower Wings & Brussels Sprouts. I had the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl which was very good, but a little on the salty side. The crab cakes (I had a taste) were VERY salty, but other than that, everyone was happy with their food. MY ONE TRUE COMPLAINT... They charged me $1.00 for "rocks" in my gin & tonic. What the heck is that about? I didn't catch it until the next day or I would have asked while I was there. I know it's only a $1.00, but I take issue with that! It's customary for a G&T to be served over ice. My favorite place for brunch in the area! I love that the menu is constantly updated with creative and delicious dishes! I always get excited to try something new. They are usually quite busy so I recommend calling ahead to get on the waitlist. The staff is always attentive, kind, and helpful in choosing what to try. If you love to cycle, they have a spot for your bike and a great outdoor patio in the spring and summer! I also highly recommend any of their drinks. The vibes and atmosphere are awesome. The food LOOKED amazing. But it was all pretty bad. The cheese curds were wet and soft. The cauliflower wings were under done. The crispy chicken sandwich was not crispy, like the curds was wet and soft. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
I called to place an order for lunch at 1 on Saturday. I wanted one item on the brunch menu and 2 on the main. The individual said they don’t serve the dinner menu till 3 pm. It doesn’t state brunch, lunch or dinner hours on the website menu online (the only thing I saw was happy hour specials for the weekend or weekdays). Staff could have offered to inquire to the kitchen if they would accommodate since they had the ingredients to be served during dinner or offered a discount for the inconveniences. So be aware if you want something on the main menu wait till 3 on the weekends. The bulgogi bowl meat was good. I was a little turned off by the poached egg. At first I thought it was cream or mozzarella cheese. Adding a poached egg to the dish doesn’t make it a brunch item. It could be served all day. The restaurant was busy with the brunch crowd Service Take out Meal type Brunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

We had never been here before and stopped with friends after a ballgame for late lunch. Great draft beer menu. The food was excellent- different ingredients, interesting menu items, DELICIOUS. Our server was the absolute best. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and extremely competent at her job. Absolutely will visit again! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Absolutely loved this place! Liz is an exceptional service professional, and I can't recommend this place enough - solid 10/10. We celebrated my birthday here, spending a fantastic 2 to 3 hours. Liz, along with all the other staff, including most of the service team and cooks, almost allmof which we interacted with at some point, were amazing. The menu is diverse and mouthwatering. After my first visit, I'm definitely coming back for more! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very fun atmosphere, especially outdoors. Food was fantastic and took care of our party of 8. The tapenade dish was the highlight! Could have had quicker service at the end for the meal, we were waiting for quite some time after our meals and searching for a waiter to get our checks. I had the Huevos Rancheros, and my son daughter and wife all opted for the Banana Foster French Toast! Trailside is an excellent place to grab brunch, especially on a Saturday morning, which many brunch places don't do! Flavors were exceptional. I topped off the Huevos Rancheros with a Bloody Mary which was also perfect for the morning. Great time, and great service, we will be back! Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
★★★★ 4.0* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 5* Value: 3* Service: 4* 01/22/2023 We stopped here for lunch while in the area as we had stopped before but hadn't eaten - just had taps. An initial disappointment was learning that they no longer were a part of the Pub Pass in 2023 (as they were in 2022), so we wouldn't be able to enjoy a complimentary tap. Even without the Pub Pass, we ordered a Bloody Mary (see picture) and Tip the Cow w/ Vanilla (see picture) as a starter...and enjoyed both of them a lot. For our meals, my wife ordered the Steak Sandwich (see picture) and I ordered the Cubano (see picture). My wife enjoyed the cheesy Steak Sandwich and having just returned from Tampa and some great Cuban sandwiches, this one here in Ankeny held its own - quite authentic with the pork, mustard and great bread. Maybe the best part though was the french fries - I really liked the thick, crunchy coating and they were fried to perfection (see picture). While I found it to be a bit on the pricey side with $16 sandwiches, the food taste and quality were good and worthy of a recommendation.
