My wife and I don’t eat out often due to our dietary restrictions. We both have celiac, so gluten can make us very sick. Our server, Amber had met with the Chef and hostess ahead of time. They worked together to plan a meal we could enjoy safely. Sedgley Place made gluten free bread, and deserts for us. Amber was able to answer all of our questions at the table, no need to run and ask the chef! The service was every bit as amazing as the food. Oh My God.... breakfast is back!!!! And sooo good! I got ordered the loaded Saddleback and the prime rib hash. The puff was moist, full, and hot. The prime rib hash was excellent definitely better than the basic hash most restaurants serve. We will be back. I am looking forward to try Lost Valley next. Was recommended this restaurant and went the day after Valentine’s Day for dinner. It has a cute vibe and the host was friendly and talked a bit about the menu. But the food was either too salty or too sugary. The balsamic vinegar dressings was pure salt (as was the onion soup) and the scallops were way too sweet. I usually just eat everything out in front of me but for this $$, maybe the server should have ask why I did not eat much. (I didn’t touch my salad). The chocolate torte was definitely not house made and served too cold. Bummer. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+ Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
We have been loyal customers for over 30 years! We were married here….. Tonight we had a good meal but not what we would call great….Onion Soup (an historic classic was overly baked and lacked its usual flavor.) The salad was minimal. My filet mignon was beautifully cooked and wonderful in taste. However, we did not receive the signature seasoned egg noodles or glazed carrots. The dessert was supposed to be a hot fudge sundae but was rock hard and clearly not fresh. Service was great and the food deficiency was not their fault. It was good but not the standard worth the trip we are used to…., Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

My Wife and I so love coming here and were excited to introduce our Daughter and Son In Law to this little gem, it pains me to leave this review today as we have never experienced anything but perfect meals and service. We went on New Years Eve. We had a 4pm reservation. We were seated upstairs, the lighting was a bit dim but not a deal breaker, the temp of the room was at best very cool. We ordered our drinks and tried the Amuse Bouche which was curried chicken on a crosini, very nice as was the one on a piece of endive. These were on every table. The crostini was a bit soft due to the moisture and having been sitting for a bit, would love to have it again but spread it myself. We were off to a good start, the drinks arrived, the Manhattans were a bit on the small side but tasted fine. I ordered a shrimp cocktail and that was good as well. Breaad was warm and had the most delicate crispy crust! Appitizers arrived and we dug in, two roasted brussel sprouts and two french onion soups, the Ladies thought the soup was overly salty. The brussel sprouts were over cooked and chewey at the same time. The flavor of the brussels were good but these were a miss for the both of us. Entrees arrived, two short ribs a prime rib for our Daugter and a rack of pork for me. The short ribs on whipped potato was very good, the prime rib was dissapointing as it lacked flavor, the rack of pork with stuffing was very good as well. We all ordered the trifle, the reactions were mixed on that but that is due to personal preference, I feel the execution of it was done very well, some thought that it was too tart but I would order it again. The service was awesome and has never been anything but that on all of our visits. No dirty dishes hanging around on your table! To sum up, based on our previous visits the meals did not quite live up to a very high bar that has been set. Will that keep us away, absolutely not. Even our very picky Daughter said she would try it again, both Daughter and Son In Law loved the setting. We chatted with Susan the co-owner, both Susan and her husband are warm and perfect hosts. If you get a chance to speak with them you will see what I mean. Until next time. Just had one of the best meals of my life here! Attended my first wine pairing dinner here and it definitely won't be the last. I had no idea I was a 15 minute drive from this culinary gem. Thanks to Chef Bob & his team for an unforgettable evening! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
If I could give it more stars I would!!! Perfectly spaced out 5 course meal! Our waitress was amazing and sweet with our 8 year old Daughter! The food was SCRUMTIOUS! Great choices as well! Went there for this Mothers Day and they handed all the Moms a flower on the way out 😁
June 11, 2021 - Heard the expression, “Good food, people will come”! Our friends invited us to dinner at Sedgley Place in a small town called Greene, Maine. My reply, “Never heard of it!” We enjoy exploring new places, and this culinary discovery rates highly, 4.75! Sedgley Place Country Inn started serving food in 1978, and under the current ownership of Susan & Bob Bowie they continue to attract customers who enjoy great food. Their chefs serve a 5 course meal that includes homemade breads, appetizer, salad and/or soup, entree, and dessert! Their menus vary weekly, which include fresh ingredients, in season, from local farms & merchants. Our choices included: French Onion Soup / Creamy asparagus soup Salmon & Shrimp Prime Rib Roast Filet Mignon Chicken Pan Seared Haddock & Lobster Wellington Vegetarian Mac & Cheese All desserts were homemade! Hot Fudge Sundae Peanut Butter w/chocolate crust pie Chocolate Tart Strawberry topped Cheesecake Raspberry Turnover The “country inn” setting allows for conversation & relaxing evening on any special occasion ( eg. birthdays, anniversaries, job promotions, out with good friends). I tend to favor white linen table cloths, two forks, and attentive servers like Donna ( thanks)! There’s several rooms for small parties, and an upstairs floor for a wedding or rehearsal dinners, plus outside seating for special events. Chefs Kyle & Raymond coordinate their culinary talents by serving up excellent food! Thank you! 2 Suggestions: A. If serving a salad as a separate course, you might not load up salad fixings under an entree too (such as my wife’s Salmon & Shrimp)? She loved the Salmon! B. Is there a story behind this old Country Inn . . . print that story on the menu?
