I really wish I could give this place more than five stars. The food was outstanding. I went in with a five person party and we all ordered different dishes EVERY SINGLE THING was good. Well, the macaroni and cheese was a little plain and runny, but other than that all other food was amazing. The blackened eyed peas were fixed to southern style perfection. As well as the cabbage that burst with flavor as soon as it hits your tongue. Pancakes are fluffy and perfectly flipped, the French toast was superbly done. Everything is seasoned just right. I could go on and on an out the food but I will just say try this place out and whatever you order, you will be delighted. We were served by Heather who was attentive, efficient, and very friendly. She provided great service. The atmosphere is nice inside the restaurant, very clean, and inviting. Great for business lunches, after church supper, or family dinner. The prices are on par for your normal soul food places. We paid about $120 dollars for five meals and two to go orders. It was worth every penny though. If you’re on the search for a place to eat in Mansfield, look no further, would definitely recommend The Porch! I don’t normally give anything 5-Stars just because I figure that we all always have room for a little improvement, but I have to say that I did everything except lick my plate clean. I had the one piece of fish and fries, which was so good that I had a 2nd piece of fish added on. The fries were thick but still crispy and almost hot enough to burn you which is how I like them and the fish was the same. Seasoned well and absolutely delicious. The fish was also light and flaky the way it should be & the breading was spot on (not too much or too little & cooked all the way through). The hush puppy had a pleasant little surprise of jalapeño flavor & all being said I’ll definitely come back. I paid my compliments to the Chef and also my server Angelina who was quick and efficient. (She was also very perky and attentive (which I normally don’t care for but with everything being so good and she promptly took care of everything I needed I actually enjoyed her demeanor).) The first time eating here. The service was great...everyone was nice. We ordered chicken and waffles, bacon and cheese omelet, and whole gain pancakes with chocolate chips. The pancakes were thick, the chicken and waffle, and home fries were both thick and bland. The omelet was good. Aston was our waitress she was VERY attentive & Malachi was the AWESOME Chef who cooked & bought me out my food which was shrimp & grits. He sd his grandma WIULD be jealous & I told him she WOULD be PROUD. The shrimp was well seasoned & VERY filling. The grits were creamy, but Ik they cater to others who DONT want salt. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and fast service. I DIDNT get 20+ pics, cause I thought I did a review here already before. First time here I got the jalapeño mushroom chicken and it was perfect. Chicken was cooked well and had a nice creamy flavor. Jalapeños weren't overly spicy, but added plenty of flavor. The mac n cheese was disappointing, but not terrible. It was just liquidy and lacking flavor. Added some salt and pepper and it was better. My bf got the porch burger and it was good. Many vivid flavors that go perfectly with each other. The fries were great too. Went again this weekend and the service was great, the entree was great, but again the sides were disappointing. The mashed potatoes tasted like coffee grounds. I think it may've been the gravy? Given the sides 2 shots now and it's been bad both times so it's starting to look like a common pattern. I chose The Porch as a restaurant to try while in Texas based off the reviews. They had fairly good reviews & I had heard it was good. It was definitely down home cowboy country style. The fried okra was amazing!! I had the avocado veggie burger, it was pretty good but more guacamole VS avocado. The Buffalo chicken ranch wrap had great flavor but excessive sauce which made it soggy. Fries were good! One of our friends loved the liver & onion dish. He said the gravy was delicious. The bacon cheeseburger was also a favorite with our group, as well as the Porch burger which was ridiculous in side but really yummy. The Porch French toast was cooked great & the waitress was able to cook the bacon a little more for us. The fried catfish was good, great flavor & wasn’t over seasoned. They brought a Mac & cheese out for us to try for one of our sides but it wasn’t cheesy & tasted more milky. They didn’t have a ton of vegetarian options, besides the French Toast or breakfast options. Heather was our waitress & she was really great & very attentive! Highly recommend!!

The machaca was hearty, with moist shredded beef and properly scrambled eggs. The vegetables in it were decent. The pinto beans were a little watery but I'm not sure what could be done there. The potatoes were moist on the inside and accompanied the dish well enough. The biscuit was very good as well, breaking apart while retaining appropriately sized bites. I tried the chicken fried chicken too and that was well-cooked as well. That was the theme of this place for me: diner cooking done well. We've been in Mansfield for over 6 years and we've been meaning to try this place. Finally made it for the first time and now we are kicking ourselves for waiting so long.
