Not a lot positive to say about The Longboard. Drinks are just ok. Painkillers come out of a slushee machine. Ordered 2 Tacos which are about the size of a potato chip. Bartenders were ok at best - not a lot of personality. There are SO many good choices in St. John - best to pass on this one. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

On our recent trip, we chose The Longboard for our last dinner (1/5/24) on the island. What a great choice! Initially, we were just going to start our evening there, with a couple drinks in the bar. But after chatting with the bartender and wait staff, we decided to make it a full evening. We started with their “pain-quila,” a tequila-based version of the traditional painkiller; and their “heart & sol,” a spicy, tequila-based drink with basil, lime, honey, and sea salt. Both were fresh, delicious, and wonderfully aromatic, the perfect way to start a meal on a warm St. John evening. The guacamole and chips paired well with these. For dinner, my wife had the street tacos with barbacoa, which is traditional to the Caribbean. The meat was very tender, which is notable with barbacoa. I had a poke bowl, with fresh fish, mango, pineapple, avocado, and a spicy aioli. Everything was so delicious, and beautifully presented. We finished with a mid-priced tequila shot. Call it dessert! The Longboard is a casual restaurant with up-scale food, outdoor seating, and reasonable (by island standards) prices. Our waitress, Audrey, helped make it a lovely evening—she was fun and attentive. Lots of vegetarian options. Highly recommended! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Excellent service by Katie & team at the bar, for lunch, anytime drinks, and dinner. Great food and some.of the best curated cocktails we've had. Cool, easy vibe, clean, and reasonable. 20% grat is included in your bill but you won't be mad, they earn it and more. Definitely recommend! Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We go to St. John two or three times a year and I think we've seen the last of The Longboard. It's one thing to charge what they charge for what you get, you know that going in. But they're tacking on 24% of the bill total right onto the top. The only way to make it 20% (which is their mandatory gratuity) is to pay in cash. I have no problem paying in cash but a 4% fee to use a credit card is also an insult with the average swipe charge for a credit card at around 2%.The average swipe charge for a debit card is 1%. So, they're jacking their prices by an additional 2 - 3 percent and while I can afford it, I hate the practice. Just make up for it in your pricing.
Friendly staff and good frozen painkiller, but the food that entailed more than "deep fry the thing" generally was pretty middling. More than one kind of slider we ordered were pretty dry/overcooked, in particular. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
