Great place. Food was like grandma used to make. Everything was spot on. The waiter was running his butt off but was a great communicator. Chicken fried steak and eggs and Breakfast sandwich are must try’s. Coffee was very good too. Prices are very reasonable. Cold room, bad service, workable food. Info it was, to be blunt, a bad experience. The ONLY reason why this isn't a one star review, is that the food was well priced, even if it wasn't all that good. To start the day off, my partner called in to see if there was availability, as it is well known that they have very limited availability, and are generally booked out. The server, host, and presumably proprietor of the resteraunt picked up the phone, and proceeded to be extremely rude to her, but begrudgingly conceded that yes, they had a cancelation, and subsequent availability. We jumped on it. We get to the resteraunt for the night, and the first thing we do is wait for 20 minutes to get seated for a table that was RESERVED, mind you, with no apology, and no explanation. Another couple waited with us, and was our bright point of the evening. The second thing we do is put our jackets on. It's about 35 outside, and maybe 50 inside. I get it, old building and all, but a little warning, an apology, or even an acknowledgment of how cold it was would've been nice. When we finally got seated, we were seated for about an hour and 45 minutes, an hour of that was waiting for our food. The waiter was precocious, rude, and overall callous. Not only did he either forget or entirely disregard my modification requests, the burger was medium rare at best, and I ordered medium. Normally not a big deal, but if ordered medium rare, I'dve got a raw steak inbetween two buns. They forgot our water, they brought our cider out with a handful of ice cubes in this 50° room, it was not somewhere I will be going again, and I will be actively warning people about this pitfall of customer service in an otherwise very pleasant town.
