This is a great date location, with dim lights, candle lights, and fire places. The food is a bit pricey but absolutely worth it in taste. I had a bowl of albondigas and it was the best I had ever tasted. They also had great cevica. The service was great. The prices were not too bad. Ummm YEAH!!! 😋😋😋😋😋 It five of five tasty face emojis. Get read for me to gush and I hereby swear I do not typically gush over restaurants. The chips salsa, roasted salsa and black bean dip is fantastic. The Coconut Marguerita, also fantastic. My sister had the El Vaquero ribeye plate and it was fantastic yet again. She didn't care for the refried beans last time so she substituted the vegetables and it was the best tasting vegetable side I've ever tasted but... the aromatic smell of the vegetables was even more amazing! 👏 I had the Stacked Birria Enchiladas with a fried egg on top and the only complaint I can manage is that I would have liked a schootch more enchilada sauce. I fully enjoyed my plate. We were stuffed so a desert didn't happen but the deserts we saw on neighboring tables looked shockingly good! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was told while visiting San Clemente, you do NOT miss South of Nick's. I'd state the same now that we went! Amazing food, great margs (as you'd expect). Sure, the price is more than traditional Mexican food, but WOW, worth the splurge!
