We went at 5pm today when they opened-- Saturday. 2 adults, 1 child. Saw at least 3 employees. Place was nearly empty. Only 2 tables had people. It took 10 minutes for a hefty guy to throw menus onto our table. 15 minutes later he was still playing on his I-pad or some device, and we were still sitting there waiting for someone to take our order. Nobody even brought us water or took our drink order! Ridiculous. So we politely left the guy on his device, and waived as we quietly escaped the torture. That is 25 minutes I can never get back. Maybe we'll try it one more time-- in which case I will update review. But maybe they just don't need the business. We would have spent at least $100 on food and drinks. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 just in case the food might have been better than the service. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
Chicken 65 didn't even have curry leaves in it. They use a lot artificial colour. A little bit is fine but they add a lot. Their biryani is not even biryani. I saw clumps of white steamed rice in my biryani which means they're just mixing regular rice with gravy instead of making biryani rice. Don't ever get biryani or any of the Chicken appetizers. Other than this, their other dishes are fine. I'd recommend trying their chicken dishes and Naan. I’ve never had Indian food before and maybe I just hyped myself up for it but the butter chicken tasted like tomato soup. Idk if it’s supposed to taste like that but I was assuming something different and the chicken had a very weird texture like it dissolved when you ate it and not in a pleasant way. Garlic naan was something I also was excited for and the raw bits of crunchy garlic really threw me off. Again I don’t know if it was supposed to taste like that but I was expecting more and mainly more flavor. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

As a college student with a penchant for great food and an undeniable love for the Milwaukee Bucks, stumbling upon "Sitar of India" in Tuscaloosa was an absolute game-changer. Nestled in the heart of Alabama, this gem of a restaurant seamlessly blends authentic Indian flavors with a cozy ambiance. From the moment I stepped inside, the aroma of spices transported me to the vibrant streets of Mumbai, making it the ideal escape from the routine college grind. The menu at Sitar of India is a slam dunk for any food enthusiast, offering an impressive array of dishes that cater to every palate. Whether you're a curry connoisseur or a biryani buff, each item on the menu is a three-pointer in terms of flavor and presentation. The Chicken Tikka Masala deserves a standing ovation for its perfect blend of spices, while the naan bread is the real MVP, serving as the ultimate dunking companion for soaking up those rich and savory curries. The restaurant's commitment to authenticity and quality ingredients is as unwavering as my dedication to cheering on the Milwaukee Bucks during every game. As a Bucks fan, finding a place like Sitar of India in Tuscaloosa feels like hitting a buzzer-beater – unexpected but absolutely thrilling. The staff's hospitality, coupled with the delectable dishes, creates an atmosphere that rivals the excitement of a Bucks playoff game. Whether you're celebrating a victory or seeking comfort after a tough loss, Sitar of India is the undisputed champion, much like my GOAT Giannis, for an unforgettable dining experience in Tuscaloosa. Great food and great people. If you're unsure what to order, try their lunch buffet. Don't skip their bread. If you order from the menu, you will get a generous portion. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Chicken Tikka Masala
I love taking people here when they visit Tuscaloosa. Also, it's fun to introduce people to Indian food who are local to N.W. Alabama and have limited experience with this decadent cuisine. The food is fresh, well-prepared with care, appropriately spiced, and thoroughly enjoyable. Oh, the service is also impeccable--the folks at Sitar are a delight. "Navratan" korma (my favorite dish) implies nine gems . . . Well, in Tuscaloosa, for Indian restaurants, we have one rare gem, and it is the Sitar of India. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Had a great meal of chicken Saag and Rogan Josh. Both were great. Nice portion size. Lots of vegetarian options also available. Alabama not usually what you think of for Indian food, so if you're craving give Sitar of India in Tuscaloosa a try. Ate here probably 10 years ago and again last night as I was passing through. Still good after all these years. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Rogan Josh

One of the best restaurants in Tuscaloosa! Everything is made to order. Good for many diets. I trust that my food is correct even if I don’t check my to go bag before I leave. Food is seasoned beautifully. Portions are big enough to share or take home for later. I fluctuate between pescatarianism, vegetarianism and veganism and I can always eat here with many delicious options. ⚠️ WARNING⚠️ coming from someone with 7 different hot sauces in their cabinet….medium heat is enough. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20
Absolutely delicious food! The buffet did not disappoint. Husband had three platefuls 😆 🤌
A great place to dine in for Indian food. They have full range of vegetarian and non vegetarian Indian cuisines. Ample sitting place with social distancing. The food is authentic Indian taste. The potion size is large and one dish serves 2 well. The rice are complementary with each dish. The staff is very knowledgeable and provides good details of Indian food.
