Fabulous pistachio baklava. Very fresh, perfect amount of sweetness and syrup. Ordered it at the bakery in Richmond and picked it up at the cafe in Emeryville. Service Take out Meal type Other Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Their sandwiches are amazing and meatballs brought me back the taste of Istanbul! Also their baklava is delicious paired with a cup of well brewed tea! I am looking forward to breakfast experience for the next time I visit the bakery!

They recently opened a small booth at the SF Ferry Building which is where I discovered them. I bought some pomegranate pistachio Turkish delights which were made to perfection. The other items for sale also looked very high quality, especially their baklava. I can’t wait to try more. I see their address is in Richmond and I’m hoping they also have a storefront there as the Richmond location would be very near to me.

I don’t know how that possible, but this bakery (specialized on Mid East food) bakes the best russian honey cake! It’s exact the same honey cake from my childhood. My husband said the same, it reminds him honey cake his grandma made.

I happened upon this vendor at Oakland's Lakeshore Saturday Farmer's Market. I am half Turkish and have to have a baklava if I see one. I have been searching for the best one in California. The choices of baklava was the regular layered type with pistachio or the rolled type with pistachio. They also have a chocolate phyllo dough! So a "chocolate baklava" with pistachios. I chose the rolled plain baklava. I could not resist not opening the package before I got home!I large 12 piece. I remember chatting with the friendly women working there about being Turkish..but they did tell me the phyllo dough I believe was freshly made I think at their bakery and the baklava's are soooo fresh and crunchy maybe because of fresh dough!. That sold me. Many baklava's I have had from store bought to restaurant do not taste fresh once they have to be sitting on a shelf for days or in a restaurant. The sugar syrup either makes the dough soggy or they just have a " stale" taste. Baklava is not a good shelf sitter! But this baklava...I want more of. This is THE BEST baklava I have bought in the Bay Area, and I have tried many...oh my goodness...no problem giving a"5.0" I loved " the crunchiness, the freshness, the light sweetness....the size of it." It was not so sweet you could not handle all that sugar syrup....this was the most perfect baklava I have had in a long time. I am in Baklava heaven!!!!Thank you Simurgh Bakery!!!!!

Purchased Medovik and rice pudding at Oakland Farmers 1/31/21. The honey cake was wonderful but the rice pudding with the browned top was not to my liking. Bakery very responsive to my post which I greatly appreciated.

I ordered a tray of baklava for pickup and it was still warm when I got there. They also sell in local farmers markets and groceries. Very tasty.
It was delicious, especially ones with pistachios and chocolate.
